The marine propulsion system further includes a control system configured to operate the engine in a propulsion mode and a generator mode. Upon receiving a generator mode command to start the engine in the generator mode, the control system operates the engine in accordance with a set of generator parameters to charge the batteries while a shift system of the marine propulsion system is locked in a neutral position such that the propulsor cannot be engaged and the marine vessel remains stationary.

At least one air intake passageway is operatively coupled to the combustion cylinder chambers through the intake valves. An air intake manifold is connected to the cylinder bead and operatively connected to the at least one air intake passageway. The engine also has a supercharger for boosting air to the air intake manifold. The watercraft also includes a propulsion unit, operatively coupled to the crankshaft, which is located on one end of the two ends of the crankcase.

A saddle-riding type seat is provided at the center of the upper surface of the upper hull with footrest decks provided on the left and right of the saddle-riding type seat. An engine and an exhaust system are provided in the interior of the vessel body. The jet propulsion boat includes cooling flow paths for forcing the engine and the exhaust system to be cooled by cooling water. The cooling water discharge ports from the cooling flow paths is provided on the rear surface of the vessel body, except for the portion immediately behind the saddle-riding type seat.

The water-cooled engine integrally includes a water tank which forms the cooling water passage and which includes an oil cooler in the inside thereof. The electrical component may be a rectifier connected to a generator and fitted to an outside wall surface of the water tank. A method of cooling the electrical component within the aforementioned containment structure prevents undesirable increases in the temperature of an electrical component part. The water tank may be formed integrally as a single body with an oil tank.

A marine wet exhaust system (10) which injects water into the exhaust flow for cooling and attenuating noise includes a particulate capture and containment system (14) for removing particulates and fluid contaminants from the exhaust gas and the waste cooling water of the discharge. With a first embodiment, this is accomplished by separating the waste cooling water and entrained particulates from the exhaust gas in a muffler/separator (12); accumulating the waste cooling water and entrained particulates in a reservoir (52); and separating the entrained particulates from the waste cooling water in a filter (50). The system further includes a reservoir discharge pump assembly (54), a reservoir drain line (86) and a bleed line (74) to maintain water levels in the reservoir and the filter. With a second embodiment, a condensate trap (56) separates particulates and condensates from the de-watered exhaust gas and returns them to the reservoir (52).

A watercraft has a compact construction and a water tight engine compartment. The air inside the engine compartment becomes warm due the radiating engine heat. This warming of the induction air reduces combustion efficiency, lower engine performance. An induction air cooling arrangement is provided to cool the air inside the engine compartment without using excess engine compartment space and not restricting induction airflow. The cooler provides the engine with cooler, denser air in order to improve combustion, therefore raising engine performance.
