摘要: An outboard motor includes an engine, a generator to generate power by driving of the engine, a driving force transmitter to transmit a driving force from the engine, a propeller shaft to rotate by being switched from a neutral state in which a clutch is disconnected from the driving force transmitter of the engine at idle to a non-neutral state in which the clutch is connected to the driving force transmitter, and a controller configured or programmed to perform a control to reduce a rotation speed of the engine by regeneration of the generator based on a user's switching operation on a shift operator to switch the outboard motor from the neutral state to the non-neutral state, and then connect the clutch to the driving force transmitter while rotating the engine.

摘要: A cowling has first and second cowl portions that enclose a powerhead on a marine drive. A latching assembly is for latching the first and second cowl portions together. The latching assembly has a retainer portion fixed to the first cowl portion and a latching portion fixed to the second cowl portion. The latching portion comprises a latch arm and a bell crank, the latch arm and bell crank being rotatable into and between a latched position in which the latch arm is latched to the retainer portion and an unlatched position in which the latch arm is unlatched from the retainer portion. A novel detent mechanism mechanically retains the latch arm and bell crank in the latched position and alternately in the unlatched position. A pair of bolted connections that fix the first and second cowling portions together and are located on opposite sides of the cowling.

摘要: To display a multidimensional code representing unique information of an outboard motor, a display device ensures switchably displaying the multidimensional code representing identical information by a plurality of display patterns where ease of reading is mutually different. A multidimensional code creating unit converts the unique information of the outboard motor into the multidimensional code and creates the multidimensional codes by two patterns. That is, a first multidimensional code creating unit creates a multidimensional code for a display pattern that represents the unique information of the outboard motor by the predetermined count of N (one or plural) multidimensional codes. A second multidimensional code creating unit creates a multidimensional code for a display pattern that represents the unique information of the outboard motor by the multidimensional code by reducing an information volume represented by one multidimensional code and increasing the count of multidimensional codes more than the predetermined count N.

摘要: An assembly is for aligning and stabilizing first and second cowl portions on a marine engine. The assembly comprises an engagement member configured to be fixed to the first cowl portion and a retainer apparatus configured to be fixed to the second cowl portion. The retainer apparatus is configured to receive the engagement member when one of the first cowl portion and second cowl portion is moved towards the other of the first cowl portion and the second cowl portion. The retainer apparatus comprises a retainer body and opposing guide members that are pivotable with respect to the retainer body. As the retainer apparatus receives the engagement member, the engagement member engages and causes the guide members to pivot with respect to the retainer body such that the engagement member becomes sandwiched between the guide members, thus aligning and stabilizing the first and second cowl portions.
