    摘要: A transportable process platform is provided for maximizing process operations therefrom without exceeding transport weight requirement. Each platform supports a power unit comprising a driven component coupled to a lightweight radial engine. The radial engine is configurable with one or more supplemental cylinder rows to increase the power output to match the power demand of the driven equipment. The lightweight engine maximizes the power demand of the driven component until the weight of the power unit approaches the maximum payload weight of the platform. Operations requiring greater capacity that that provided by one platform only benefit from a minimum number of platforms, each having maximized power capacity.

    摘要: A method of determining the percentage of glycated hemoglobin in a blood sample is disclosed wherein at least one of the assay steps is performed electrochemically. The method includes determining the total amount of hemoglobin in a sample by electrochemically measuring, in an oxygen electroreduction reaction at a cathode, the amount of oxygen in the sample. Because the amount of oxygen dissolved in the sample is known, the total hemoglobin is determined by subtracting the amount of free oxygen from the total oxygen measured, recognizing the fast equilibrium Hb+O2⇄HbO2. This can be followed by determining the amount of glycated hemoglobin in the sample. The cathode reaction is accomplished by contacting the sample with an enzyme, the enzyme being a copper-containing enzyme having four copper ions per active unit. The family of these enzymes includes, for example, laccases and bilirubin oxidases. A device associated with such a process or method is also provided.

    摘要: An internal-combustion engine has cylinders 21 arranged preferably in a V-formation with corresponding cylinder heads (27) including connectors for the supply and discharge of fluids. The cylinders are mounted in a crankcase (41) and are supplied with air for combustion by a cast air manifold (51) running the length of the engine, the air manifold being located adjacent to the row of cylinders, preferably in the V. To reduce the amount of pipework the manifold has shaped connectors for at least one of the fluids, in particular the air intake (33) and the water coolant (55), these connectors connecting directly to the relevant connectors on the cylinder head and being pressed against them by the pressure in the manifold.

The carburetor choke and throttle controls are configured as rotary members mounted within an upper front portion of the engine shroud, and are shaped for easy grasping by a user to control the running of the engine.
