摘要: An internal combustion engine includes: a crankshaft; a crankcase that supports the crankshaft; an oil tank that is at least partially partitioned by the crankcase; a scavenge pump including a first intake port and a first discharge port; a feed pump including a pump shaft, a second intake port and a second discharge port, oil that has been sucked in through the second intake port as the pump shaft rotates being discharged through the second discharge port; a scavenge discharge passageway connecting the first discharge port of the scavenge pump to the oil tank; and a feed intake passageway connecting the oil tank to the second intake port of the feed pump. As viewed from the axial direction of the pump shaft, at least a portion of the feed pump and the oil tank overlap each other.

摘要: A lubrication system for an internal combustion engine includes a fluid flow control device at an outlet side of the pump that regulates pressure conditions at the outlet side of the pump upstream of the lubrication circuit in the engine. The fluid flow control device is located in a recirculation path, and opens in response to a fluid pressure at the outlet of the pump exceeding a first threshold to allow the fluid to pass from the outlet side of the pump back to an inlet side of the pump. The recirculation path includes a tuning device that maintains the fluid pressure at engine speeds above the first threshold. In response to engine speeds above a second threshold, the tuning device restricts fluid flow in the recirculation path so that the fluid pressure in the fluid flow path increases.

摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation pump system for an internal combustion engine includes an EGR gas source and an electric motor assembly. A roots device is coupled to the electric motor. The roots device includes a housing defining an internal volume wherein the housing includes a radial inlet port receiving the EGR gas source and an outlet port expelling the EGR gas from the housing. Rotors are disposed in the internal volume and connected to the electric motor. A transmission housing is attached to the housing. The transmission housing includes journals formed therein receiving bearings that support the rotors on only a single end of the rotors.

Such an oil distribution block includes a rigid block body configured to be secured to a cylinder head of an engine, an oil inlet, and an oil outlet. The oil inlet is configured to be releasably coupled to a first oil distribution line or a fitting therebetween, receive a flow of oil therefrom, and route the oil to an inlet of a cooling passage of the cylinder head. The oil outlet is configured to be releasably coupled to a second oil distribution line or a fitting therebetween, receive a flow of oil from an outlet of the cooling passage of the cylinder head, and route the oil to the second oil distribution line. The oil inlet and the oil outlet are configured to threadably couple with the first and second oil distribution lines, respectively, or the fittings therebetween.

摘要: An engine includes: an exhaust manifold 7 close to one of left and right side surfaces of an engine; a turbocharger 60 having an exhaust-side inlet connected to the exhaust manifold 7; and a rocker-arm-chamber-integrated intake manifold 8 being disposed on an upper surface of a cylinder head 5 and integrally including a rocker arm chamber 90 and an intake manifold 6. The intake manifold 8 has a wall 101 dividing the rocker arm chamber 90 close to the one of the left and right side surfaces of the engine 1 and the intake manifold 6 close to the other of the left and right side surfaces to isolate the rocker arm chamber 90 and the intake manifold 6 from each other. The rocker arm chamber 90 has, in its upper portion, a positive crankcase ventilation device 69 protruding therefrom and being configured to return blowby gas to an intake system. The positive crankcase ventilation device 69 has, in its side surface, a blowby-gas discharge port 67 connected with a gas conduit 68 through which blowby gas is delivered to an intake-side inlet of the turbocharger 60.

摘要: A Circle-Ellipse Engine comprises a stationary circular outer Housing having a fixed elliptical inner cam surface, and a separate internal round Rotor partitioned into equal segments that are populated by identical movable radial Vanes. During rotation, the end of the Vanes are positioned a constant distance from the elliptical inner cam surface of the Housing. The internal round Rotor has the same radius as the minor axis of the elliptical inner cam surface. During rotation, a variable height cavity is created representing the difference between the major and minor axes of the elliptical inner cam surface and the Rotor face.The position of the radial Vanes is guided by the slots in the symmetrical Rotor, extending to the elliptical inner cam surface of the Housing. The precise extension is governed by a pin track machined into the dual End Plates.There are no pistons, camshaft, timing chains, valves, valve lifters, rocker arms, connecting rods, or wrist pins. As a benefit, size and weight are significantly reduced when compared to a reciprocating engine of similar horsepower. Normal aspirated air is continuously drawn into the engine when an adjacent pair of radial Vanes passes the air inlet port. Similarly, exhaust products are expelled after a combustion event when the pair of adjacent Vanes passes over the exhaust port.The resultant geometer results in a continuous implementation of the Otto Cycle; namely intake, compression, expansion or power stroke, and exhaust during a single rotation of the internal round Rotor.Because the Otto Cycle is executed each revolution of the Rotor, the Circle-Ellipse Engine achieves the same power as a conventional reciprocating engine of the same displacement and compression ratio, at half the RPM. This implementation greatly reduces component ware and extends the life and maintenance cycle by a factor of four. As a side benefit, the power losses and vibration common to all reciprocating engines are eliminated.

摘要: A crankshaft lubricating oil passage structure of a V-shaped engine includes a main oil passage and a sub oil passage. The V-shaped engine includes a pair of banks. The pair of banks includes cylinders and is disposed in a V shape with respect to the crankshaft. The V bank angle as an included angle of the cylinders of the respective banks is set at a narrow angle. The main oil passage is provided between the pair of banks in the cylinder block or the crankcase. The sub oil passage extends from the main oil passage to the bearing portion of the crankshaft and guides lubricating oil to the bearing portion. The main oil passage is formed by connecting divided passage portions that are divided partway in an axial direction by an oil passage connection member that is a separate member from the cylinder block or the crankcase.
