Abstract: Systems and methods for optically scanning multiple object planes are provided. One embodiment is a method for providing multiple object planes in an optical image scanning environment comprising positioning a first optical sensor array to receive an optical signal corresponding to a first object plane located a first distance from the platen and positioning a second optical sensor array to receive an optical signal corresponding to a second object plane located a second distance from the platen.

Abstract: A stimulating light cut filter is disposed between a radiation image convertor panel and a line sensor to transmit the stimulated emission and cut the stimulating light. The stimulating light cut filter includes an optical element which absorbs the stimulating light, and a reflecting layer which reflects the stimulating light.

Abstract: Because the dynamic range of a solid-state image sensor is relatively narrow, it is necessary to reduce the amount of light using an aperture so that the amount of light incident on the solid-state image sensor is within the range of the dynamic range. However, the amount of control at this time may exceed a controllable range which is the maximum limit of an amount in which diffraction is not generated. As a result, the amount of control by the aperture is determined so that the amount of control by the aperture does not exceed the controllable range, and an ND filter, which corresponds to or is approximate to the amount of control of reduced light which was obtained by subtracting the amount of control by the aperture from the total amount of control, is placed on an optical path.

Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a first laser stimulating ray source for emitting a laser beam having a wavelength of 633 nm or 635 nm, a second laser stimulating ray source for emitting a laser beam having a wavelength of 470 to 480 nm, a laser beam scanning device for scanning the laser beam, at least one light detector for photoelectrically detecting light released from an image carrier carrying an image, and at least one filter member disposed in front of the light detector and having a plurality of filters for transmitting light of different wavelengths. The thus constituted image reading apparatus can be used for a radiation diagnosis system, an autoradiographic system, an electron microscope detecting system and a radiation diffraction image detecting system using a stimulable phosphor and a fluorescence detecting system and an image can be read with high sensitivity.
