Abstract: A method for welding a workpiece with a vision guided welding platform. The welding platform comprises a welding tool, and a camera for guiding the movement of the welding tool from a start point to an end point. The method includes the steps of adjusting a focal length of the camera such that a focal plane of the camera is located on a surface of the workpiece and obtaining a surface image of the workpiece. The method further includes the steps of determining a current focal length of the camera, determining a corrected pixel length of a pixel in the surface image and determining the number of pixels between the start point and the end point of each movement of the welding tool. Using the corrected pixel length, a distance between the start and end points is determined and the welding tool is guided to move therebetween.

The wood optimization system generally having a conveyor moving wood products across a handling area; a wood product selector positioned proximate to a selected wood product in the handling area; and a computer vision system along the production line having a camera imaging the handling area, a processor communicatively coupled to the camera, and a computer-readable memory having program code that when executed by the processor perform the steps of: receiving from the camera an image representing at least a portion of the handling area; finding the wood product selector in the image; identifying the selected wood product in the image as the wood product of the plurality being most proximate to the wood product selector; receiving an instruction associated to the selected wood product; and implementing the instruction into optimization data associated to the selected wood product.

A disclosed example includes: a capture unit that captures a fingerprint; an image processing unit that processes a transferred fingerprint image captured by the capture unit; a display unit on which the fingerprint image transferred to the image processing unit is displayed; a recording unit where the fingerprint image transferred to the image processing unit is recorded by the image processing unit; and an instruction unit that inputs, in the image processing unit, a record instruction that instructs the image processing unit to record the fingerprint image in the recording unit. The image processing unit records, in the recording unit, the fingerprint image displayed on the display unit at the time the record instruction is input by the instruction unit.

Abstract: In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, a tissue imaging system includes a cassette configured to retain a tissue for imaging. The cassette includes a first cassette portion and a second cassette portion. The first cassette portion includes a recess formed in a central portion thereof, a window formed within the recess, and a first connection mechanism affixed thereto. The second cassette portion includes a cavity configured to compress a tissue therein and a second connection mechanism affixed thereto. An imaging device is configured to image the tissue through the window. Aligning the first connection mechanism and the second connection mechanism causes the first cassette portion to couple to the second cassette portion, compressing the tissue into the cavity for imaging.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and computer-program products are provided for adding data to a digital video signal in a visually imperceptible manner. For example, a region of pixels can be identified in a video frame, and one or more pixel characteristics of the region of pixels can be determined. Based on the one or more pixel characteristics of the region of pixels, at least one pixel characteristic of a subset of pixels from the region of pixels can be modified in order to encode a set of data into the region of pixels. An output frame can be provided that includes the modified at least one pixel characteristics for the subset of pixels.

Abstract: In one aspect, a 2D machine readable code is mimicked by a collection of graphic elements. This can involve choosing a location, within an input 2D code block, at which correlation between a first graphic element and the input 2D code block is maximized. An area around this location is then disqualified from further consideration. A second location is next chosen, within the input 2D code block but outside the disqualified area, at which correlation between a second graphic element and the input 2D code block is maximized. The process continues in this fashion, adding graphics and removing additional areas from consideration, until a threshold number of graphic elements has been placed. The elements are then assembled in their corresponding locations to yield a composite image block that provides features mimicking that of the input 2D code block, thereby enabling the composite image block to be decoded by a compliant code reader. A great variety of other signal rich art arrangements are also detailed.
