Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of separating a compound of interest, particularly unsaturated compound(s) of interest, from a mixture. The compound is separated using a column having a chromatographic stationary phase material for various different modes of chromatography containing a first substituent and a second substituent. The first substituent minimizes compound retention variation over time under chromatographic conditions. The second substituent chromatographically and selectively retains the compound by incorporating one or more aromatic, polyaromatic, heterocyclic aromatic, or polyheterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbon groups, each group being optionally substituted with an aliphatic group. In some examples, the present disclosure can include a chromatographic system having a chromatographic column having a stationary phase with a chromatographic substrate containing silica, metal oxide, an inorganic-organic hybrid material, a group of block copolymers, or a combination thereof.

Abstract: One of problems to be solved is to provide an adsorbing material suitable for canisters and enabling reduction in pressure loss. Another one of the problems to be solved is to provide, using activated carbon fiber, a formed adsorber that is a formed product difficult to be deformed, the formed adsorber serving as an adsorbing material for canisters, the adsorbing material having excellent effects. The formed adsorber for canisters satisfies at least the following conditions (A), (B), and (C). (A) The formed adsorber is a formed product including activated carbon fiber, granular activated carbon, and a binder. (B) A weight ratio of the activated carbon fiber to the granular activated carbon in a total weight of the activated carbon fiber and the granular activated carbon is 5 to 95 parts by weight of the activated carbon fiber to 95 to 5 parts by weight of the granular activated carbon. (C) A weight ratio of the binder in the formed adsorber is 0.3 to 20 parts by weight to 100 parts by weight of the activated carbon fiber and the granular activated carbon that are contained in the formed adsorber.

Abstract: A process for removing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from a H2S-containing gas composition includes charging a liquid to a reactor under continuous agitation and dispersing particles of a zinc-based zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) in the liquid to form a ZIF-8 mixture. The method further includes introducing the H2S-containing gas composition to the reactor containing the ZIF-8 mixture under continuous agitation and passing the H2S-containing gas composition through the ZIF-8 mixture. In addition, the method includes adsorbing the H2S from the H2S-containing gas composition onto the ZIF-8 to remove the H2S from the H2S-containing gas composition and form a purified gas composition.

Abstract: An adsorption composition that includes a treatment agent including a material having an oxidized surface functionality and a carrier fluid are described. A method of preparing an adsorption composition including processing a material derived from at least one component of a date tree to provide a processed date tree material, treating the processed date tree material with a first treatment to produce a treated date tree material, reacting the treated date tree material with one or more oxidizing agents to form a treatment agent, and suspending the treatment agent in a carrier fluid is also described. Further, a method of adsorbing one or more compounds from a water-based fluid including introducing an adsorption composition to a water-based fluid containing one or more organic compounds contacting the adsorption composition with the one or more organic compounds and adsorbing the one or more organic compounds on the treatment agent is also described.

Abstract: Sensors for detecting analytes are disclosed. In various implementations, the sensing device may include a substrate and a sensor array. The sensor array may be arranged on the substrate, and may include a plurality of sensors. In some implementations, at least two of the sensors may include a first carbon-based sensing material disposed between a first pair of electrodes, and a second carbon-based sensing material disposed between a second pair of electrodes. The first carbon-based sensing material may be configured to detect a presence of each analyte of a group of analytes, and the second carbon-based sensing material may be configured to confirm the presence of each analyte of a subset of the group of analytes. In some instances, the group of analytes includes at least twice as many different analytes as the subset of analytes.
