Compounds that bind the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1) receptor are provided including compounds which are modulators of the GLP-1 receptors and compounds which are capable of inducing a stabilizing effect on the receptor for use in structural analyses of the GLP-1 receptor. Methods of synthesis, methods of therapeutic and/or prophylactic use, and methods of use in stabilizing GLP-1 receptor in vitro for crystallization of the GLP-1 receptor of such compounds are provided.

[Problems] A compound, which is useful as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition, for example, a pharmaceutical composition for treating chronic renal failure and/or diabetic nephropathy, is provided.[Solving Means] The present inventors have conducted extensive studies on a compound having an EP4 receptor antagonistic activity, and confirmed that the amide compound of the present invention has an EP4 receptor antagonistic activity, thereby completing the present invention. The amide compound of the present invention has an EP4 receptor antagonistic activity, and can be used as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and/or treating various EP4-related diseases, for example, chronic renal failure and/or diabetic nephropathy, and the like.

The present invention relates to methods for identifying compounds useful for regulating TNF-alpha levels and/or activity. The invention also relates to methods for decreasing TNF-alpha levels and/or activity. Compounds and compositions according to this invention are useful for treating TNF-mediated diseases. The invention also relates to kits comprising the compounds and compositions herein and a tool for measuring TNF-alpha activity and/or levels.

Aspects of the present invention include probes, methods, systems that have stand alone utility and may comprise features of a drug discovery system or method. The present invention also includes pharmaceutical compositions.In more detail, the present invention provides molecular probes and methods for producing molecular probes. The present invention provides also provides systems and methods for new drug discovery. An embodiment of the present invention utilizes sets of probes of the present invention and a new approach to computational chemistry in a drug discovery method having increased focus in comparison to heretofore utilized combinatorial chemistry. The present invention also provides computer software and hardware tools useful in drug discovery systems. In an embodiment of a drug discovery method of the present invention in silico methods and in biologico screening methods are both utilized to maximize the probability of success while minimizing the time and number of wet laboratory steps necessary to achieve the success.
