Abstract: A driving control device includes a processor that controls driving of a subject vehicle using any one of a first driving mode and a second driving mode having a lower driving assistance level than that of the first driving mode. The processor is configured to: after the driving mode switches from the first driving mode to the second driving mode, determine whether or not a travel environment of the subject vehicle satisfies an automatic return-possible condition; and when the travel environment of the subject vehicle satisfies the automatic return-possible condition after the driving mode switches from the first driving mode to the second driving mode, output, to a user interface, first information indicating that the driving mode of the subject vehicle can be switched automatically from the second driving mode to the first driving mode.

Abstract: A vehicle driving support system capable of supporting driving of a vehicle that travels on a road includes a notifier, and an acquirer. In a case where there is a first vehicle that moves between lanes, the notifier is configured to, provide notification of presence of the first vehicle to a second vehicle travelling in a target lane into which the first vehicle is to move. The acquirer is configured to acquire a size of a merging space that is to be provided by the second vehicle for merging of the first vehicle. In a case where the first vehicle is travelling under autonomous operation or assisted operation, the acquirer is configured to acquire the size of the merging space such that the size of the merging space is longer than when acquired in a case where the first vehicle is travelling under manual operation.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method, computer system, and computer program product for wrong way driving detection is provided. The embodiment may include monitoring indications of wrong way traversal along a traversal path through one or more on-board, Internet of Things (IOT) sensors. The embodiment may also include determining whether wrong way traversal of the traversal path is occurring based on a risk assessment value satisfying a preconfigured threshold. The embodiment may further include, in response to determining the risk assessment value satisfies the preconfigured threshold, performing a corrective action to ameliorate the wrong way traversal.

Abstract: A representation of a first set of weights associated with a vehicle prior to a drive are received, the vehicle including a plurality of axles, a plurality of wheels attached to the plurality of axles, and a load. A warning is caused to be output in response to at least one weight from the first set of weights being outside a predetermined range. Longitudinal and lateral dynamics associated with the vehicle during the drive are determined. A second set of weights associated with at least one axle from the plurality of axles during the drive are determined. A determination is made if at least one remedial action should be performed based on the longitudinal dynamics, the lateral dynamics, and the second set of weights. In response to determining that the at least one remedial action should be performed, the at least one remedial action is caused to be performed.

Abstract: Methods and systems for communicating between autonomous vehicles are described herein. Such communication may be performed for signaling, collision avoidance, path coordination, and/or autonomous control. A computing device may receive data for the same road segment from autonomous vehicles, including (i) an indication of a location within the road segment, and (ii) an indication of a condition of the road segment. The computing device may generate, from the data for the same road segment, an overall indication of the condition of the road segment, which may include a recommendation to vehicles approaching the road segment. Additionally, the computing device may receive a request from a computing device within a vehicle approaching the road segment to display vehicle data. The overall indication for the road segment may then be displayed on a user interface of the computing device.

Abstract: An autonomous driving assistance device includes a manual driving control section, an autonomous driving control section, and a travelling condition determining section. If it is detected that there is a malfunction in a first sensor during control of the autonomous driving of the vehicle, the autonomous driving control section executes emergency autonomous driving until a predetermined condition is satisfied while changing, based on the determined travelling condition, a driving manner of an emergency autonomous driving as compared with a driving manner of the autonomous driving executed before no malfunctions are detected in the first sensor; and after the emergency autonomous driving is terminated, the autonomous driving assistance device being configured to selectively execute one of: causing the autonomous driving control section to stop the vehicle; and causing the manual driving control section to control the manual driving.

Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling a failover response of an autonomous vehicle are provided. In one example embodiment, a method includes determining, by one or more computing devices on-board an autonomous vehicle, an operational mode of the autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle is configured to operate in at least a first operational mode in which a human driver is present in the autonomous vehicle and a second operational mode in which the human driver is not present in the autonomous vehicle. The method includes detecting a triggering event associated with the autonomous vehicle. The method includes determining actions to be performed by the autonomous vehicle in response to the triggering event based at least in part on the operational mode. The method includes providing one or more control signals to one or more of the systems on-board the autonomous vehicle to perform the one or more actions in response to the triggering event.
