摘要: A method of forming an implant having a porous tissue ingrowth structure and a bearing support structure. The method includes depositing a first layer of a metal powder onto a substrate, scanning a laser beam over the powder so as to sinter the metal powder at predetermined locations, depositing at least one layer of the metal powder onto the first layer and repeating the scanning of the laser beam.

摘要: A bone implant includes a body having a porous structure and having a size and shape configured for fitting to a bone, preferably in a bone defect. The porous structure is comprised of regularly arranged elementary cells whose interior spaces form interconnected pores, the elementary cells are formed by basic elements arranged in layers, wherein the basic elements are shaped like tetrapods, the tetrapods in each layer being arranged in parallel orientation and being positioned in-layer rotated with respect to tetrapods of an adjacent layer. The layers with rotated and non-rotated tetrapods are alternatingly arranged. Thereby a porous structure can be achieved which features improved mechanical characteristics, leading to improved biocompatibility.

摘要: A bioabsorbable plug implant, suitable for bone tissue regeneration, includes a first portion, and a second portion extending outwardly from the first portion, the first and second portions formed from expandable material. A method for bone tissue regeneration includes providing a bioabsorbable plug implant, wherein the implant has a first portion and a second portion extending outwardly from the first portion. The first and second portions are formed from expandable material. The second portion is inserted into a defect or gap of a bone. The first surface engages the outside contour of the defect or gap. The plug implant is allowed to contact body fluids, thereby expanding the size of the plug implant so that the plug fits into the defect or gap.

The implant includes a metal insert having a bone ingrowth structure, an intermediate structure and a bearing support structure. A bearing surface is formed from a polymer material and attached to the bearing support structure. The intermediate structure has a porosity sufficient to inhibit the polymer material from translating through the bearing support structure to the bone ingrowth structure.

At least part of the lattice is formed, without a continuity break, by geometric meshes of polygonal shape repeated in space over all or part of the body, having a cellular geometry with elementary cells open and contiguous, to define a plurality of polygons with spatial development delimiting the cavities. Each geometric mesh has a first polygonal part with four sides, each of the sides being an angled segment, and a second part being an angled segment and a third part being an angled segment. Each angled segment has first and second consecutive rectilinear segments forming an angle at an intersection of each pair of its first and the second consecutive segments. The first polygonal part has non co-planar vertexes.
