摘要: A photocurable device injection system for creating in situ polymerization via light or free-radical to enable fractured bone fixation. The system comprises a photosensitive polymeric resin sensitive to light, temperature, oxygen, enzymes, or a combination thereof. The photosensitive polymeric resin may be configured to cure at room temperature or physiological temperature with a light source. The photosensitive polymeric resin may be configured to depolymerize with ultrasonication, sonication, or a combination thereof. The system further comprises an implantable 3-dimensional biocompatible pouch comprising an optical light guide. The system further comprises one or more micro-sized ultrasonication probes configured to contact a three-dimensional pouch by one or more openings. The one or more probes may be configured to enable polymer outflow.

摘要: Compositions and methods thereof include bone fibers made from cortical bone in which a plurality of bone fibers are made into shapes that are used to augment fixation of orthopedic implants and screws. Sheets of bone fibers may be used as an interface between bone and tissue, tendons, and/or ligaments. Cylindrical shaped implants that may be placed in drilled holes in bone prior to screw placement to enhance fixation of the screw. The physical presence of the fibers provides initial fixation, while the use of an osteoinductive material provides long term enhancement of bone formation around the screw and hence fixation. The bone fiber compositions may be in the form of a cylinder or a tube. A delivery system and methods of use are also provided.

摘要: Provided herein are aerogels and foams including: single structural cells and/or groups of structural cells derived from a plant or fungal tissue, the single structural cells having a decellularized 3D structure lacking cellular materials and nucleic acids of plant or fungal tissue; the single structural cells and/or groups of structural cells being distributed within a carrier derived from a dehydrated, lyophilized, or freeze-dried hydrogel. Also provided herein are methods for preparing aerogels or foams, including steps of: providing a decellularized plant or fungal tissue; obtaining single structural cells and/or groups of structural cells from the decellularized plant or fungal tissue by performing mercerization; mixing or distributing the single structural cells and/or groups of structural cells in a hydrogel, to provide a mixture; and dehydrating, lyophilizing, or freeze-drying the mixture to provide the aerogel or foam. Related methods and uses are also provided.

摘要: A uniformly hydrated composition is provided and methods of making the uniformly hydrated composition. The method comprises providing a plurality of lyophilized porous macroparticles in a chamber, the plurality of lyophilized porous macroparticles each having an average diameter from about 0.1 mm to about 10 mm and comprising ceramic material and polymer; and mixing each of the plurality of lyophilized porous macroparticles with a fluid in the chamber to uniformly hydrate each of the plurality of lyophilized porous macroparticles to form a uniformly hydrated composition. Hydratable compositions are also provided.

摘要: Hard-tissue implants are provided that include a bulk implant, a face, pillars, slots, and at least one support member. The pillars are for contacting a hard tissue. The slots are to be occupied by the hard tissue. The at least one support member is for contacting the hard tissue. The hard-tissue implant has a Young's modulus of elasticity of at least 3 GPa, and has a ratio of the sum of (i) the volumes of the slots to (ii) the sum of the volumes of the pillars and the volumes of the slots of 0.40:1 to 0.90:1. Methods of making and using hard-tissue implants are also provided.
