摘要: The present disclosure provides a bio-material composition and method of use in craniomaxillofacial surgery. An example method comprises: accessing a space defined between adjacent bone structures in a head of a patient; mixing magnesia, potassium biphosphate, and a calcium phosphate with an aqueous solution to form an activated bone fusion slurry (ABFS); applying an effective amount of the ABFS to the space between the adjacent bone structures; allowing the ABFS to set forming a bonded bone structure; and permitting bone growth into the bonded bone structure providing fusion of the two adjacent bone structures, wherein the ABFS promotes fusion of the two adjacent bone structures without the need for additional physical fixation devices.

摘要: The present invention relates to a bio-material composition comprising: a dry potassium phosphate based mixture comprising (a) MgO, monobasic potassium phosphate, monobasic sodium phosphate, a reabsorbing agent, and a tertiary calcium phosphate, wherein the weight percent ratio of monobasic potassium phosphate to metal oxide is between about 3:1 and 1:1; and (b) an aqueous solution, wherein the dry potassium phosphate based mixture is mixed with the aqueous solution forming a reabsorbable bio-material slurry, wherein the reabsorbing agent is between about 1-10 weight percent of the dry composition, and wherein the reabsorbing agent is selected from the group consisting of a sugar compound, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), a poloxamer, and combinations thereof.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a bioabsorbable composite screw and methods of use. The bioabsorbable composite screw includes an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end. The elongated body includes an outer surface provided with a plurality of threads defined by a plurality of crests and a plurality of roots. The bioabsorbable composite screw also includes a drive socket positioned at the proximal end of the elongated body. The bioabsorbable composite screw including both the elongated body and the drive socket is made from a polymer including poly-lactic acid and either magnesium phosphate or potassium phosphate.

摘要: The present invention relates to a material and method for promoting motion preservation in a bone. One preferred method comprises (a) accessing an interior of the bone, (a) mixing magnesia, potassium biphosphate, and a calcium phosphate with an aqueous solution forming an activated slurry, (c) applying an effective amount of the activated slurry to the interior of the bone, (d) allowing the activated slurry to set forming a bonded bone structure, and (e) permitting bone growth into the bonded bone structure to thereby promote motion preservation of the bone.
