摘要: An interbody spacer for spinal fusion surgery includes first and second opposite side walls that have open-cell metal foam at upper and lower faces, and a three-dimensional lattice disposed between open-cell metal foam at the upper and lower faces. The open-cell metal foam is in communication with the three-dimensional lattice so that bone growth can enter the three-dimensional lattice from the open-cell metal foam. The interbody spacer may be formed by additive manufacturing.

摘要: A prosthesis assembly including a base member that has a helical structure and one or more pathways. The helical structure extends between a first end and a second end. The pathway is accessible from the second end and is directed toward the first end through the helical structure. The pathway is located inward of an outer periphery of the helical structure. The pathway extends in a space between successive portions of the helical structure. The prosthesis assembly includes a locking device that has a support member and an arm that projects away from the support member. The arm is configured to be disposed in the pathway when the support member is disposed adjacent to the second end of the base member. The arm is disposed through bone in the space between successive portions of the helical structure when the prosthesis assembly is implanted.

摘要: The improved endoprosthetic device surface treatment encourages soft tissue attachment thereto. A porous mesh surface treatment creates on an outer surface of the endoprosthetic device a three-dimensional surface structure similar to cancellous bone. Suture attachment features are provided at various locations around the treated surface structure to initially affix a vascularized soft tissue to the treated surface. As the patient heals the soft tissue grows and infiltrates the porous mesh surface to achieve an attachment strength substantially equal to the surrounding tissue.

摘要: An implant stabilizes two adjacent bones of a joint, while enabling a natural kinematic relative movement of the bones. Support components are connected to each bone of the joint, and a flexible core is interposed between them. The core and at least one of the support components are provided with a smooth sliding surface upon which the core and support component may slide relative to each other, enabling a corresponding movement of the bones. The surfaces may have a mating curvature, to mimic a natural movement of the joint. The core is resilient, and may bend or compress, enabling the bones to move towards each other, and or to bend relative to each other.

摘要: An orthopaedic prosthetic component can include a porous three-dimensional Voronoi structure shaped to be implanted in a patient’s body. The porous three-dimensional Voronoi structure can include a plurality of struts, a number of pores, a first surface, and a second surface. The plurality of struts can define randomized interconnected organicized cells, wherein respective groups of struts intersect so as to define a respective plurality of nodes. The number of pores can be defined by the organicized cells. The second surface can be spaced from the first surface along a transverse axis. An intermediate portion can be between the first surface and the second surface. The first surface can have a first porosity and the intermediate portion can have an intermediate portion porosity that is different from the first porosity.

摘要: An implantable medical device, such as an intervertebral spacer, may comprise a polymeric component and a metallic component. The metallic component can contain both porous metal and substantially-solid metal. The polymeric material can contain particles of an osseointegrative material. The metallic component can be more protruding toward bone than the polymeric component while having a smaller dimension of roughness than the polymeric component. In embodiments, the pin may press-fit against substantially solid metal. The porous metal may surround solid metal which in turn may surround the pin. The pin may have a press-fit with metal and a looser fit with polymeric component, if the metal components and polymeric components are trapped. A pin may connect superior and inferior metal components by a press-fit. The central opening may be exposed to porous metal and also to substantially-solid metal and to polymer. Specific geometries of implants are disclosed.
