摘要: An orthopedic assembly includes a tibial prosthesis that includes a body that defines an anterior side and a posterior side. The body further incudes a recess in the anterior side of the joint prosthesis and a plurality of openings that extend through the body from the anterior side to the posterior side thereof. At least a first and second opening of the openings are positioned at respective lateral and medial sides of a longitudinal axis of the tibial prosthesis. A modular insert is positioned within the recess of the body such that at least a portion of the modular insert is positioned between the openings of the body. The modular insert is formed separately from the tibial prosthesis and has a porous outer surface to promote tissue ingrowth.

摘要: An artificial articulation having stable fixing means for unicompartmental knee arthroplasty is stably attached to the top of a tibia in order to permit a sliding motion of an artificial joint attached to the bottom of a femur. The artificial articulation includes an implant hat part which a curved surface structure that makes surface contact with the artificial joint attached to the bottom of the femur is formed on an upper surface thereof, and protrusions protruding by a predetermined height in a direction of the top of the tibia are formed in large numbers on a lower surface thereof, and a distally extending stem configured to be formed to protrude downward by a predetermined length from the lower surface of the implant hat part, and to be inserted into the tibia by a predetermined depth from the top of the tibia and attached thereto.

The first non-metallic portion is attached to the first insert portion and the second non-metallic portion is attached to the second insert portion. Either or both of the second insert thickness being different from the first insert thickness and the second non-metallic thickness being different from the first non-metallic thickness. The porous insert includes a porous projection extending into the non-metallic structure.

摘要: A woven retention device that is configured to receive a fastener in a bone hole can be configured to promote bone ingrowth and impede biofilm formation. The woven retention device can be made of woven filaments that outline apertures of varying sizes and shapes and can serve as an interface between the fastener and the bone material. In a first relaxed state, the interwoven filaments can outline apertures of varying sizes and shapes within a predetermined range and in a second constricted state inside the bone hole with the fastener the interwoven filaments can outline apertures of decreased area that still fall within the predetermined range. The woven retention device can be configured to allow for optimal bone growth while at the same time minimizing the likelihood that biofilm forms thereon.

摘要: A method for attaching a porous metal layer to a dense metal substrate, wherein the method is particularly useful in forming orthopedic implants such as femoral knee components, femoral hip components, and/or acetabular cups. The method, in one embodiment thereof, comprises providing a solid metal substrate; providing a porous metal structure; contouring a surface of the porous metal structure; placing the porous structure against the substrate such that the contoured surface of the porous metal structure is disposed against the substrate, thereby forming an assembly; applying heat and pressure to the assembly in conjunction with thermal expansion of the substrate in order to metallurgically bond the porous structure and the substrate; and removing mass from the substrate after the porous structure is bonded to the substrate, thereby finish processing the assembly.
