摘要: Tissue closure systems are disclosed wherein one variation generally includes a handle, a proximal catheter segment extending from the handle, a deployment segment coupled to the proximal catheter segment, and a distal catheter segment pivotably coupled to the deployment segment such that the distal catheter segment is rotatable at an angle relative to the proximal catheter segment. A receiver member positioned within the deployment segment is configurable between a low-profile configuration and a deployed configuration. Two or more forward needle members and two or more rear needle members are extendable distally from a first side and a second side of the proximal catheter segment. The two or more forward needle members are receivable into the two or more openings along the first receiver portion and the two or more rear needle members are receivable into the two or more openings along the second receiver portion.

摘要: A method of suturing includes: (1) wrapping a first segment of a suture through a traction loop; (2) pulling the traction loop and the first segment through an opening in a suture lock; (3) continuing to pull the traction loop such that a second segment of the suture extends through the opening, wherein the second segment has a greater denier than the first segment such that the second segment more nearly fills an entire dimension of the opening than the first segment; and (4) locking the suture in place with the second segment in the opening.

摘要: A device for positioning in the body of an animal, the device comprising a first portion and a second portion that may be positioned in contact with one other, the first portion and the second portion each comprising a biocompatible conductive thermoplastic material, such that when the device is positioned in the body of an animal and electric current flows from the first portion to the second portion, heat is generated by electrical resistance at the point of contact between the first portion and the second portion so as to melt regions of the first portion and the second portion, and when the electric current is thereafter terminated, the melted regions of the first portion and the second portion re-solidify so that a weld is formed between the first portion and the second portion.

摘要: An implant delivery system for delivering a surgical implant attached to a needle to a surgical target site is described. The implant delivery system comprises a handle body, handle insert, and a needle. The handle insert extends through the handle body and includes a proximal end configured to engage with the handle body and a distal end configured to engage the needle. The handle insert is rotatable between a first position in which the needle may be inserted or removed and a second position in which the needle is locked in place.

摘要: A method and apparatus for coupling a soft tissue implant into a locking cavity formed within a bone is disclosed. The apparatus includes a member to pull the soft tissue implant into a femoral tunnel. The member includes a suture having first and second ends which are passed through first and second openings associated with the longitudinal passage to form a pair of loops. A collapsible tube is positioned about the suture. Application of tension onto the suture construction causes retraction of the soft tissue implant into the femoral tunnel and the collapse of the tube to form an anchor.

摘要: Disclosed is a system and method for attaching an arch bar wire to secure an arch bar. The system comprises an alignment tool onto which two needles or two needle assemblies are adapted to be fitted. The alignment tool includes a needle guide adapted to guide the position of the needles. In the assembled position, the two needles have openings which face each other, such a wire can be manipulated to enter one needle from a proximal side which is outside of the patient's mouth, exit the needle's opening from the distal side, guided to enter the opening on the distal side of the second needle, the exit the second needle on the proximal side. Thus, the exposed ends of the wire will remain on the proximal side.

摘要: A vessel closure device comprising a proximal end includes a first actuator, a distal end including a suturing mechanism, and first and second needles associated with the suturing mechanism. At least one of the first and second needles is coupled to the first actuator. The suturing mechanism is activated within the vessel through an opening in the wall of the vessel. The first and second needles are directed through the vessel wall adjacent to the opening to direct a tensile member adjacent to the opening for closing and sealing the opening.

摘要: A medical system includes an insertion device having a working channel, a first medical device configured to be disposed within the working channel of the insertion device, and a second medical device configured to be disposed within the working channel of the insertion device. The first medical device includes a handle, a control element extending from the handle, a detachable portion, a helical coil coupled to the detachable portion, and a loop. The detachable portion is removably coupled to a distal portion of the control element. A first portion of the loop is coupled to the detachable portion, and a second portion of the loop extends radially away from the detachable portion. The second medical device is configured to receive the second portion of the loop. The second medical device is configured to couple the second portion of the loop to a portion of a treatment site.

摘要: Exemplary methods and systems can be provided for resurfacing of skin that include formation of a plurality of small holes, e.g., having widths greater than about 0.2 mm and less than about 0.7 mm or 0.5 mm, using a mechanical apparatus. Compressive and/or tensile forces can then be applied to the treated region of skin as the damage heals to facilitate hole closure, and provide enhanced and/or directional shrinkage of the treated skin area.
