摘要: Embodiments of the present invention include a convertible prosthesis that is capable of conversion from a humeral head replacement to a reverse reconstruction without any removal of parts integrated into the patient's bony anatomy (e.g. implant stems). A desired overall implant inclination angle may be achieved by matching various implant stems with various reverse inserts, thus permitting a resection surface to be matched with an implant stem selection while also permitting a desired overall implant inclination angle to be achieved through the selection of an appropriate insert.

摘要: Surgical procedures, tools and implants are disclosed for both conventional and reverse shoulder implant surgeries. The improved procedures, tools and implants relate to humeral head resurfacing, humeral head resection for standard implants, humeral head resection for reverse shoulder implants, glenoid resurfacing for standard shoulder implants and glenoid resurfacing for reverse shoulder implants. 3D scans and x-rays are used to develop virtual models of the patient anatomy, identify patient specific landmarks for anchoring guide wire installation blocks, templates and drill guides. 3D scans are also used to design patient specific tools and implants for the shoulder implant procedures and to pre-operatively determine the appropriate inclination and retroversion angles.

摘要: A baseplate for implantation into a scapula includes a first circular portion, a second circular portion, and a third circular portion, wherein the first circular portion, the second circular portion, and the third circular portion define an upper surface a projection extending from the third circular portion in a direction away from an upper surface and configured to be received with an aperture created in the scapula; an aperture extending through the projection and configured to receive a bone screw such that a portion of the bone screw extends beyond an end of the projection and into the scapula, and wherein the aperture is configured to receive a projection of an artificial joint such that the artificial joint is coupled to the baseplate.

摘要: A system is disclosed herein for providing a kinetic assessment and preparation of a prosthetic joint comprising one or more prosthetic components. The system comprises a prosthetic component including sensors and circuitry configured to measure load, position of load on a curved surface, joint stability, range of motion, and impingement. In one embodiment, the system is for a ball and socket joint of a musculoskeletal system. The system further includes a computer having a display configured to graphical display quantitative measurement data to support rapid assimilation of the information. The kinetic assessment measures joint alignment under loading that will be similar to that of a final joint installation. The kinetic assessment can use trial or permanent prosthetic components. Furthermore, adjustments can be made to the applied load magnitude, position of load, and joint alignment by various means to fine-tune an installation.

摘要: The improved glenoid fossa prosthesis for repair of a scapular deficient patient includes a base with a fixed flange, and a separable flange. A conical taper on the base and a complimentary locator edge positively orient the separable flange when joined with the base for affixation by screw. A plurality of flange fixation screws penetrates the scapular tissue between the flanges for affixation of the flanges thereto. The flange thickness is variable to approximate the topography of the scapular tissue in the affixation area to minimize tissue trimming during fitment. A cutting mask attaches to the deficient scapula in the glenoid fossa area to guide the physician in trimming scapular tissue for fitment. A cortical screw further fixates the base to the scapular tissue. A second conical taper on the base serves as a mount for a glenoid sphere (reverse shoulder) or socket (standard shoulder) repair configuration.

The first surface includes a first rim positioned radially outward from a second rim, a base surface portion, and a hood surface portion extending from the base surface portion and oriented at an obtuse angle relative to the base surface portion. The body defines a hood portion extending from the hood surface portion to a plane including the base surface portion. The cavity has a perimeter defined by the second rim, and includes a first cavity portion configured to receive an attachment structure attachable to a bone, and a second cavity portion configured to engage an engagement member of the attachment structure and oriented along the engagement axis.
