Abstract: Provided herein are various embodiments of an improved glenoid implant assembly that includes a baseplate, a polymer glenosphere, and an interfacing component. The interfacing component can be made of a material that is more rigid than the polymer glenosphere, has a bowl-shaped configuration with a convex side and a recessed side, where the convex side is configured to be secured to the circular recessed portion of the polymer glenosphere and the recessed side is configured to securely receive the baseplate. The interfacing component is interposed between the polymer glenosphere and the baseplate and provide a secure attachment between the polymer glenosphere and the baseplate.

Abstract: A spinal implant which is configured to be deployed between adjacent vertebral bodies. The implant has at least one extendable support element with a retracted configuration to facilitate deployment of the implant and an extended configuration so as to expand the implant and effectively distract the disc space, stabilize the motion segments and eliminate pathologic spine motion. The implant has a minimal dimension in its unexpanded state that is smaller than the dimensions of the neuroforamen through which it typically passes to be deployed within the intervertebral space. The implant is provided with a locking system having a plurality of linked locking elements that work in unison to lock the implant in an extended configuration. Bone engaging anchors also may be provided to ensure secure positioning.

Abstract: A bioactive filamentary structure includes a sheath coated with a mixture of synthetic bone graft particles and a polymer solution forming a scaffold structure. In forming such a structure, synthetic bone graft particles and a polymer solution are applied around a filamentary structure. A polymer is precipitated from the polymer solution such that the synthetic bone graft particles and the polymer coat the filamentary structure and the polymer is adhered to the synthetic bone graft particles to retain the graft particles.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are patient-specific cutting guides for guiding a surgical instrument for resecting a portion of a glenoid of a patient. The cutting guides include a base portion having a contact surface shaped to substantially match at least a portion of a cavity of the glenoid. The base portion has a guide hole extending therethrough in which the guide hole has an axis coaxial with an axis of rotation. The cutting guides include one or more stabilization members extending outwardly from the base portion and having a contact surface shaped to substantially match an outer surface of a portion of a scapula of the patient. The stabilization members are oriented to take into account the patient's anatomy in orienting and stabilizing the guide with respect to the glenoid. The guide hole of the base portion is for guiding the surgical instrument to create a guide hole in the glenoid.

Abstract: A stemless prosthetic shoulder joint may include a prosthetic humeral head and a stemless base. The stemless base may include a collar and an anchor extending from the collar intended to anchor the base into the proximal humerus. The anchor may include various features to enhance the fixation of the base, including hooks, threads, and/or expandable members that may be transitioned from a contracted insertion condition to an expanded implanted condition once the base is positioned in the bone. The anchor and/or collar may also include additional features to enhance fixation, such as geometries and surface features to enhance fixation to bone. The anchor may include a plurality of chisel slots to facilitate removal of bone during a revision surgery.

Abstract: Filamentary fixation devices may be used in a variety of surgical procedures to secure soft tissue to bone. The present invention provides various devices, systems, kits and instrumentation for performing such surgical procedures including preparation of soft tissue and bone, preparation and manipulation of such filamentary fixation devices, and insertion and utilization of the fixation devices within a patient's anatomy. In one embodiment, a method for securing soft tissue to bone, the method includes accessing the soft tissue and the bone, passing a filament through the soft tissue, preparing a bore hole in the bone, loading the filament into a filamentary fixation device, implanting the filamentary fixation device, with the filament, into the bore hole, and tensioning the filament so that the filamentary fixation device and filament are secured within the bore hole.
