摘要: Hip arthroplasty trial systems and associated medical devices, methods, and kits are described that can be utilized in situ to complete a femoral head trial. An example embodiment of a hip arthroplasty trial system includes a medical device and a femoral stem. The medical device has a head member, a spacer, a shaft, and a locking member. The spacer is disposed within the head member and is moveable from a first position to a second position. The shaft is disposed within the head member and contacts the femoral stem. The shaft is moveable from a first position to a second position. Movement of the shaft from the first position to the second position moves the spacer from its first position to its second position. The locking member is disposed within the head member and releasably attaches the shaft to the head member.

摘要: An implant removal tool (1) used to remove a femoral implant (17) from a femur bone (18) by providing a substantially U-shaped body (2) having a substantially rectangular-shaped opening (9) located thereon that allows the substantially U-shaped body to be placed over a neck (21) of a femoral implant so a sharpened front edge (5) of the substantially U-shaped body makes direct contact with an inner surface of the stein of the femoral implant. The U-shaped body may have front side edges (26, 27) that extend beyond a front edge (5) to allow the front side edges to cut anterior and posterior surface of the implant.

摘要: There is disclosed a hip implantation structure, comprising a stem and a femoral head, the femoral head comprising a plurality of grooves, an outer acetabular cup and an inner liner, wherein presence of the inner liner and plurality of grooves on the femoral head reduces friction and thereby reduces wear of the hip implantation structure. The hip implantation structure is used for total hip arthroplasty. The plurality of grooves on the femoral head comprises a plurality of hemispherical grooves of varying widths, and debris produced by the inner liner gets trapped inside the plurality of grooves, resulting in a reduced chance of adhesive wear.

摘要: A medical device for implantation in a hip joint of a human patient, the natural hip joint having a ball shaped caput femur as the proximal part of the femoral bone with a convex hip joint surface towards the center of the hip joint and a bowl shaped acetabulum as part of the pelvic bone with a concave hip joint surface towards the center of the hip joint. The medical device comprising; an artificial caput femur, comprising a convex surface towards the center of the hip joint. The artificial convex caput femur is adapted to, when implanted: be fixated to the pelvic bone of the human patient, and be in movable connection with an artificial acetabulum surface fixated to the femoral bone of the patient, thereby forming a ball and socket joint. The medical device further comprises a fixation element comprising a fixation surface adapted to be in contact with the surface of the acetabulum and adapted to fixate the artificial convex caput femur to at least the acetabulum of the pelvic bone.
