摘要: The present invention relates to methods of preparing carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H2) by reacting biomass, a biomass component (e.g., lignin, ligno-cellulose, cellulose, hemiceullose or combination thereof) or a carbohydrate from any source with a polyoxometalate catalyst such as H5PV2Mo10O40, or solvates thereof, in the presence of a concentrated acid, under conditions sufficient to yield carbon monoxide (CO); followed by electrochemical release of hydrogen (H2). The carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H2) may be combined in any desired proportion to yield synthesis gas (Syngas). The present invention further relates to methods for preparing H2, CO and formic acid/formaldehyde from biomass, a biomass component and/or from carbohydrates.

摘要: A method of producing syngas comprising receiving raw syngas from a gasification unit; introducing the raw syngas and water to a syngas scrubber to produce unshifted syngas; introducing a first portion of unshifted syngas to a first cooling unit to produce cooled unshifted syngas and a first aqueous condensate comprising cyanide in an amount of 5-200 ppmw; recycling the first aqueous condensate to the syngas scrubber; introducing a second portion of unshifted syngas to a water gas shift unit to produce shifted syngas; introducing the shifted syngas to a second cooling unit to produce cooled shifted syngas and a second aqueous condensate comprising cyanide in an amount of less than 2.5 ppmw; contacting the cooled shifted syngas with the cooled unshifted syngas to produce modified syngas; and introducing the second aqueous condensate to a sour water stripper to produce stripped water and an acid gas comprising H2S, CO2, and ammonia.

摘要: Traditional residential and industrial furnace systems convert the chemical energy of liquid and gas fuels into thermal energy and, in some earlier applications, also into electric energy. This process is driven by a burner specifically designed and built. Often these systems operate at high temperatures, high pressures and relatively lower efficiency levels. The field of present invention generally relates to furnaces that combine the fuel production to the both thermal either electrical energy production. More particularly, the present invention produces a combustible gas that, within the internal workings of the present invention, and can efficiently be burned without the production of high levels of pollutants, at relatively lower temperatures and pressures. The foregoing characteristics, along with the limited size of the elements needed to practice the present invention, make it conducive for use as and in connection with, among other things, residential furnaces and other heating systems, including, for example, heat exchangers and residential hot water tanks. In short, the present invention involves the production of a combustible fuel gas, thermal and electric energy. This production is accomplished through the interconnected use of water electrolysis, catalysts, storage means, regulation, and mean of reusing materials to increase production efficiencies.

摘要: A butadiene production system and a butadiene production method are provided in which butadiene can be produced with a high yield. The butadiene production system (1) includes: a gas preparation device (10) that heats raw materials to prepare a mixed gas including hydrogen and carbon monoxide; an ethanol production device (12) that is provided downstream of the gas preparation device (10) and brings the mixed gas including hydrogen and carbon monoxide into contact with a first catalyst to obtain ethanol; a butadiene production device (16) that is provided downstream of the ethanol production device (12) and brings the ethanol into contact with a second catalyst to obtain butadiene; and return means (18) for returning hydrogen, which is produced as a by-product in the butadiene production device (16), to the ethanol production device (12). In addition, in the butadiene production method, the butadiene production system (1) is used.

摘要: In the production of fuel such as ethanol from carbonaceous feed material such as biomass, a stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide is added to the raw gas stream derived from the feed material, and the resulting combined stream is converted into fuel and a gaseous byproduct such as by a Fischer-Tropsch reaction. The gaseous byproduct may be utilized in the formation of the aforementioned stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

摘要: A method of processing oil sands material including bitumen. The method includes subjecting the oil sands material to a predistillation process. The predistillation process includes heating the oil sands material to between approximately 350° C. and approximately 400° C., to produce atmospheric gas oil from the bitumen, and intermediate dried oil sands material, and heating the intermediate dried oil sands material to between approximately 535° C. and at least approximately 600° C., to produce vacuum gas oil and coked oil sands material comprising carbon-heavy hydrocarbons and sand. The method also includes subjecting the coked oil sands material to gasification, to produce barren hot oil sands material, and syngas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide gases.

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for pyrolysis of waste feed material. Some systems include a main retort and a secondary retort. Syngas is produced by pyrolysis in the main retort, and is then mixed with combustion air and ignited, in some cases to produce energy. Carbon char travels to the secondary retort and is exhausted from the system through an airlock.
