Abstract: A process for reverse isomerization of a light naphtha feedstock containing branched C5-C7 paraffins. The process includes feeding a mixed feed stream including the light naphtha feedstock to a separation unit to generate an iso-paraffin stream and one or more normal paraffin streams. The process further includes mixing hydrogen gas and a hydrocarbon feed stream containing the iso-paraffin stream to form a hydrogen-enriched liquid feed stream which is provided to a reverse isomerization reactor. The hydrogen-enriched liquid feed stream is contacted with a solid reverse isomerization catalyst for reverse hydroisomerization in a substantially two-phase liquid-solid reverse isomerization fixed-bed reaction zone convert iso-paraffins to normal paraffins. The isomerization effluent stream is provided to a stabilization column to generate a stabilized isomerate stream which is combined with the light naphtha feedstock to generate the mixed feed stream. An associated system for performing the process is also provided.

Abstract: Hydrodeoxygenating a biorenewable feed that is concentrated in free fatty acids with 12 and 14 carbon atoms at a moderate hydrodeoxygenation ratio that is less than the ratio of hydrodeoxygenation utilized for traditional biorenewable feeds such as vegetable oil or even mineral feedstocks, normal paraffins in the range desired by the detergents industry can be produced. Either hydroisomerization or an iso-normal separation can be performed to provide green fuel streams. Two reactors are proposed, one for hydrodeoxygenation of the biorenewable feed that is concentrated in free fatty acids with 12 and 14 carbon atoms and the other for a traditional biorenewable feed or even a mineral feed operated at a higher deoxygenation ratio.

Abstract: A continuous process for converting waste plastic into recycle for polypropylene polymerization is provided. The process integrates refinery operations to provide an effective and efficient recycle process. The process comprises selecting waste plastics containing polyethylene and polypropylene and then passing the waste plastics through a pyrolysis reactor to thermally crack at least a portion of the polyolefin waste and produce a pyrolyzed effluent. The pyrolyzed effluent is separated into offgas, a naphtha/diesel fraction, a heavy fraction, and char. The naphtha/diesel fraction is passed to a refinery FCC unit, from which is recovered a liquid petroleum gas C3 olefin/paraffin mixture. The C3 paraffins and C3 olefins are separated into different fractions with a propane/propylene splitter. The C3 olefin fraction is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor. The C3 paraffin fraction is optionally passed to a dehydrogenation unit to produce additional propylene and then the resulting C3 olefin is passed to a propylene polymerization reactor. The heavy fraction of pyrolyzed oil is passed to an isomerization dewaxing unit to produce a lubricating base oil.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a useful product from carbonaceous feedstock of fluctuating compositional characteristics, comprising the steps of: continuously providing the carbonaceous feedstock of fluctuating compositional characteristics to a gasification zone; gasifying the carbonaceous feedstock in the gasification zone to obtain raw synthesis gas; recovering at least part of the raw synthesis gas from the gasification zone and supplying at least part of the recovered raw synthesis gas to a partial oxidation zone; equilibrating the H2:CO ratio of the raw synthesis gas in the partial oxidation zone to obtain equilibrated synthesis gas; recovering at least part of the equilibrated synthesis gas from the partial oxidation zone and treating the gas to remove impurities and generate a fine synthesis gas; and converting the optionally adjusted fine synthesis gas into the useful product in a further chemical reaction requiring a usage ratio.
