Abstract:
The present invention provides a process and apparatus for converting feedstock comprising biomass and/or carbon-containing solid waste material to synthesis gas. The process comprises supplying a densified and pressurized feedstock to a gasifier comprising a fluidized bed zone and a post-gasification zone and contacting the feedstock with a gasification agent. Recovery and purification of the synthesis gas is then carried out involving the recycling of CO2 back to various stages in the process. The apparatus is configured to carry out the process and comprises transport lines to recycle the CO2. The synthesis gas can be further processed to form renewable synthetic products and/or chemicals.

It is provided a process for increasing production of carbon monoxide (CO) and recycling carbon dioxide when treating synthesis gas using a carbon dioxide-to-carbon monoxide conversion unit, such as a Reverse Water Gas Shift (RWGS) reactor, converting excess CO2 from the produced syngas to additional CO, using an external source of green, renewable or low carbon intensity hydrogen.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for converting waste solid sustainable carbon material to chemical products is described herein. The methods add hydrocarbon derived from fossil sources to gas derived from gasifying waste solid sustainable carbon material to enhance hydrogen availability, and in some cases carbon availability, for production of the chemical products. Carbon dioxide made by the process is at least partially sequestered to yield a chemical manufacturing process with environmental burden substantially less than conventional processes. Use of the hydrocarbon boosts yield of final products.

Fuel and fuel additives can be produced by processes that provide Fischer-Tropsch liquids having high biogenic carbon concentrations of up to about 100% biogenic carbon. The fuels and fuel additive have essentially the same high biogenic concentration as the Fischer-Tropsch liquids which, in turn, contain the same concentration of biogenic carbon as the feedstock.

A looping reaction hydrogen production system includes a reduction reaction device, a primary separation device, a hydrogen production reaction device, a secondary separation device, a primary heat transfer device and a cooling purification device. Based on looping combustion reaction mechanism, the system makes MeO/Me circularly flow between the hydrogen production reaction device and the reduction reaction device to respectively generate a reduction/oxidation chemical reaction, and to convert the conventional carbon-based solid fuel into the high-purity clean hydrogen energy. Compared with the conventional hydrogen production technology from water-gas shift reaction of syngas, the system reduces water consumption, energy consumption and environmental pollution of the hydrogen production process; converts conventional carbon-based fuel into clean hydrogen energy by use of renewable energy sources, such as solar energy; and achieves efficient capture and storage of gaseous CO2.

A method of converting carbon containing compounds such as coal, methane or other hydrocarbons into a liquid hydrocarbon fuel utilizes a high pressure, high temperature reactor which operates upon a blend of a carbon compound including CO2 and a carbon source, a catalyst, and steam. Microwave power is directed into the reactor. The catalyst, preferably magnetite, will act as a heating media for the microwave power and the temperature of the reactor will rise to a level to efficiently convert the carbon and steam into hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

The invention refers to a process to produce H2 from biomass containing carbon. The biomass is gasified to obtain a gaseous flow essentially containing molecules of carbon monoxide (CO) and molecules of molecular hydrogen (H2). These molecules (CO) and (H2) are then oxidized by oxygen holders in oxidized state (MeO) to obtain a gaseous flow essentially containing CO2 and water steam (H2Osteam) and oxygen holders in reduced state (Me). The oxygen holders are then oxidized by water steam. That oxidation produces oxidized oxygen holders and a gaseous flow essentially containing di-hydrogen (H2). The invention also refers to a system containing the means to perform the steps of such a process.
