Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method for measuring a power level in at least a portion of a plurality of resource blocks occurring in a radio frequency spectrum, wherein the measuring occurs for a plurality of time cycles to generate a plurality of power level measurements, calculating a baseline power level according to at least a portion of the plurality of power levels, determining a threshold from the baseline power level, and monitoring at least a portion of the plurality of resource blocks for signal interference according to the threshold. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A radio receiver, configured to use an impulse UWB, includes: a reception antenna which receives the impulse UWB, a reception unit which amplifies the received impulse UWB and detects an envelope of the impulse UWB, maximum-peak and minimum-peak detection units which detect a maximum value and minimum value of the envelope, respectively, a comparator which acquires signal data from the envelope with an initial threshold value, a baseband unit which measures an error rate of the signal data, an MPU which calculates a correction value based on the error rate, and an arithmetic unit which calculates a corrected threshold value based on the maximum, minimum and correction values. The arithmetic unit transmits the corrected threshold value to the comparator. The comparator acquires the signal data from the envelope based on the corrected threshold value transmitted from the arithmetic unit.

Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may include, for example, a device comprising a memory to store instructions and a processor coupled to the memory, wherein responsive to executing the instructions, the processor performs operations. The operations comprise receiving signals over a spectrum of frequencies, providing location data of the device to a base station, receiving a request from a base station to perform a spectral analysis of the signals, detecting an interference among the signals, and providing, in response to the request, data to the base station regarding a source of the interference, wherein the data comprises a location of the source relative to the device, spectral data for identifying the source, and a time a frequency of occurrence of the interference. Abstract: The systems and methods described herein are directed to techniques for improving battery life performance of end devices in resource monitoring systems which transmit data using low-power, wide area network (LPWAN) technologies. Further, the techniques include providing sensor interfaces in the end devices configured to communicate with multiple types of metrology sensors. Additionally, the systems and methods include techniques for reducing the size of a concentrator of a gateway device which receives resource measurement data from end devices. The reduced size of the concentrator results in smaller, more compact gateway devices that consume less energy and reduce heat dissipation experienced in gateway devices. The concentrator may comply with modular interface standards, and include two radios configured for transmitting 1-watt signals. Lastly, the systems and methods include techniques for fully redundant radio architecture within a gateway device, allowing for maximum range and minimizing downtime due to transmission overlap.

Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining when a communication device will transmit signals comprising transmission segments in a communication link. Signal interference is detected in a portion of transmission segments according to the determining when the communication device will transmit the signals including the transmission segments and at least one threshold for detecting interference. Aspects of the disclosure further include detecting that a number of signal interferers in the portion of the transmission segments exceeds a number of filters of a group of filters, and prioritizing use of the group of filters to filter signal interference in the portion of the transmission segments for suppressing at least a portion of the signal interference detected.

Abstract: A method that incorporates teachings of the subject disclosure may include, for example, analyzing a signal to identify a present interference and extracting the interference from the signal. The extracting can include comparing a presence time for the interference with a reference time; if the presence time exceeds the reference time and at least one of a plurality of filters is available for filtering the present interference, an available filter of the plurality of filters is activated, thereby causing filtering of the interference from the signal. If no filter is available due to activation of the filters for filtering a plurality of previously identified interferences, a priority order is determined for the present interference and the previously identified interferences, based on their interference signal levels. The filters are assigned to the interferences in accordance with the priority order. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Abstract: A system that incorporates the subject disclosure may perform, for example, a method that determines at least one threshold for detecting signal interference in a first plurality of segments occurring in a first radio frequency spectrum of a first wireless communication system, detecting a pattern of recurrence over time of signal interference in a segment of the first plurality of resource blocks according to the at least one threshold, and performing one or more mitigation steps to mitigate the signal interference without filtering the signal interference where the one or more mitigation steps include at least one of transmitting signals out of phase from the signal interference, adjusting transmit power, increasing power in a resource block of a long term evolution communication session, performing beam steering, or changing time parameters for the resource block without changing to a new resource block. Other embodiments are disclosed.
