Abstract: Assay modules, preferably assay cartridges, are described as are reader apparatuses which may be used to control aspects of module operation. The modules preferably comprise a detection chamber with integrated electrodes that may be used for carrying out electrode induced luminescence measurements. Methods are described for immobilizing assay reagents in a controlled fashion on these electrodes and other surfaces. Assay modules and cartridges are also described that have a detection chamber, preferably having integrated electrodes, and other fluidic components which may include sample chambers, waste chambers, conduits, vents, bubble traps, reagent chambers, dry reagent pill zones and the like. In certain preferred embodiments, these modules are adapted to receive and analyze a sample collected on an applicator stick.

Abstract: Novel cyclic peptides, cyclic peptide conjugates and compositions containing them for treating neurological diseases in a subject include an Odorranalectin (OL) sequence or modified OL sequence as a scaffold and a biologically active peptide or protein and/or therapeutic agent conjugated thereto. Methods of treatment of neurological diseases are based on intranasal delivery of a cyclic peptide or cyclic peptide conjugate as described herein. Combinatorial libraries that include a plurality of cyclic peptides have also been developed and can be used to screen for a ligand(s) for a receptor of interest.

Having a human sequence-derived specific VH or VL scaffold, the antibody library according to the present invention exhibits high thermodynamic stability and enjoys the advantages of allowing high soluble expression as well as reversible folding. In addition, the antibody according to the present invention includes a variety of rationally controlled CDRs so as to exhibit high specificity and high affinity to all antigens and thus can be advantageously used for selecting an adequate candidate antibody against a target antigen.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cyclic compound library and a method for making cyclic compounds. The method includes reacting a solid-phase carrier, a molecule containing a photocleavable group, a linking molecule, a building block, and an A-end ring-closure molecule and a B-end ring-closure molecule at the two ends for synthesizing. The method also includes removing the solid-phase carrier using decomposition under light radiation and performing a ring-closure reaction using amino acid residue structures of the A-end ring-closure molecule A and the B-end ring-closure molecule B under the action of a cyclic peptide synthetase.

Abstract: Compositions, methods and uses of a recombinant virus and/or recombinant viral vector encoding a distinct antibody or antibody fragment generated from high-diversity nucleic acid library are presented. Preferably, the recombinant virus is genetically modified, low immunogenic virus, for example, an E2b-deleted adenovirus. The high-diversity nucleic acid library comprises or is derived from (1) a VH-CDR1/2 sub-library, (2) a plurality of VH-CDR3 sub-libraries, and (3) a VL sub-library, each of which comprises a plurality of members. Preferably, each member of the sub-libraries comprises at least one random cassette that has a plurality of degenerate base positions. In an especially preferred embodiment, at least portions of at least two members of the VH-CDR1/2 sub-library, the plurality of VH-CDR3 sub-libraries, and the VL sub-library are recombined to form an expression library member in an expression library, where each member of the expression library encodes a distinct antibody or antibody fragment.
