    Abstract: A driving assistance device includes: a first member rotatably supported by a first member rotational shaft; a second member rotatably supported by a second member rotational shaft; an operation lever rotatably supported by both a first lever rotational shaft and a second lever rotational shaft, the first lever rotational shaft being provided at the first member, the second lever rotational shaft being provided at the second member and disposed toward a front side relative to the first lever rotational shaft, the operation lever including an extension part extending from the first lever rotational shaft toward a rear side; and a transfer member driving a generator that generates at least one of braking force or drive force for the vehicle in accordance with an operation of the operation lever.

    Abstract: A brake-by-wire vehicle braking system is augmented with “squeeze” sensors placed in the steering wheel of the vehicle enabling a vehicle operator to stop the vehicle more quickly in an emergency situation by eliminating the significant times that it takes to move a driver's foot from the accelerator to the brake pedal and then depress the brake pedal. An important objective is to achieve a faster vehicle stop by allowing the driver to optionally eliminate foot movement from the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal and also the depression of the brake pedal. This invention also potentially allows a driver to squeeze a steering wheel to slow a vehicle, perhaps to comply with a lower speed limit, or accomplish the fastest possible “hard-stop” in an emergency situation.

    Abstract: A vehicle engine activation control system includes a starter connected to a battery; an idle stop control unit configured to automatically stop an engine and automatically reactivate the engine by the starter; an input unit configured to generate an operation request in response to input from a driver; an electric parking brake device including an electric motor connected to the battery, wherein the electric motor starts driving in response to the operation request; and a mediating unit configured to prohibit the reactivation of the engine by the idle stop control unit when the electric motor is in a driving state in response to a predetermined operation request, and also to prohibit the driving of the electric motor in response to the predetermined operation request while the engine is being reactivated by the idle stop control unit.
