Abstract: An adjustable hospital bed for laterally positioning a patient includes a support frame having a top end and a bottom end, a plurality of wheels secured to the bottom end of the support frame, and a body pad having a head end and a foot end and a plurality of back pad mortises around its periphery. The bed also includes a back pad having a top edge, a bottom edge, and a plurality of back pad tenons that extend from the bottom edge and are removably inserted into the plurality of back pad mortises of the body pad to support the back pad on its bottom edge at an angle relative to the body pad. In addition, the bed includes a linear actuator configured to lift the head end of the body pad and a tilt adjustment mechanism configured to laterally tilt the body pad.

Abstract: A reclining seat including, but not limited to, a seat bottom; a seat back, a leg support, and an arm support forming a seat assembly. The seat assembly is configured to be supported on a floor surface and to move between an upright configuration and a flat configuration. The seat back and the leg support are transverse to the seat bottom, and the arm support is transverse to the seat back, when the seat assembly is in the upright configuration. Abstract: Systems and methods for a load sensing system that determines a mass on a bed. The systems generally are in the form of a castor base, particularly one that can be used as part of an adjustable hospital bed. The load sensing system serves to determine the mass of any object or objects (typically a human or animal patient) which is placed on the bed by having the mass create a force on lever arms of a plurality of load cells in the castor base. The load sensing systems are designed to work without hindering the adjustable functionality of the bed and can accurately determine mass (weight) at any position of the bed, and potentially even while the bed is adjusting between positions.

Abstract: A patient bed has a siderail that is movable to a raised position elevated over a central region of a mattress of the patient bed for use as part of a patient lift of the patient bed. In a lowered position, the siderail blocks egress of a patient from the mattress. In the raised position of the siderail, a sling arm is coupleable to the siderail and a sling is coupleable to hooks of the sling arm.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a base, a frame supported relative to the base to support a mattress for supporting a patient thereon, and a lift assembly for raising or lowering the frame relative to the base. The lift assembly includes a pair of lifting legs, a pair of crank arms, and an actuator. The actuator has a fixed end mounted relative to the lifting legs and an extendible end and supports a pin connection between the extendible end and the fixed end. The pin connection being movable with the extendible end and is pivotally coupled to the pair of crank arms, with the pair of crank arms coupled at upper ends thereof to the lifting legs and at lower ends thereof to the base.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a base and a support frame. A lift system operates to lift and lower the support frame relative to the base. The lift system includes a first lift and a second lift. The first lift and the second lift are independently operable to place the support frame in one or more Trendelenburg positions. A plurality of load cells acts between the lifts and the support frame such that a load on the support frame is transmitted to the plurality of load cells to measure the load. The first lift includes a guided body arranged to move longitudinally relative to the base in response to operation of the second lift to move the support frame to the one or more Trendelenburg positions.
