摘要： The present invention provides an extendable and retractable sofa armrest assembly, including a fixed inner panel for sofa attachment, a movable outer panel parallel and spaced on the sides, and an extendable and retractable assembly between them. The extendable and retractable assembly includes interconnected rotational rods, allowing the movable outer panel to switch between folded and open positions. An armrest cover wraps both panels, creating a flexible support portion. In use, the outer panel is open, tensioning the support. In a packed state, the outer panel draws close to the fixed panel, compressing the assembly. Thereby the invention enables regulating the armrest's width.

摘要： Systems and methods for a transportable sofa are provided. The sofa may include a seating unit that comprises a base, a back, a first set of hinges, and a second set of hinges. The sofa may be configured such that in a folded position the back lies in a substantially flat position, and the back unfolds to an unfolded position by swinging the top edge of the back upward and pivoting the back into a substantially upright position. The second set of hinges may include a left side hinge and a right side hinge that may be configured to fold at pivot points when the back is in the folded position, unfold at the pivot points when the back is in the unfolded position, and secure the back in the substantially upright position and prevent the back from pivoting further backwards. The sofa may also include a right armrest unit, a left armrest unit, a set of cushions, and a plurality of legs.

Lengths may vary, but common lengths are 45 inches, 66 inches, and 90 inches. The system thus results in a substantial increase (approximately 33%) in the number of articles of furniture that can be shipped in a single standard international cube shipping container, thereby greatly reducing the shipping cost per article of furniture.

The backrest section includes first and second portions coupled for movement between a folded configuration and an extended configuration. An armrest module has an armrest side edge surface configured for mating engagement with a side edge surface of a seating module. The modular sofa is assembled by aligning connectors of the seating modules and armrest module, with each respective connectors slidingly engaged along an axis. After bringing the modules together, these connections are secured with the side edge surfaces in abutting engagement. The modular sofa further may include a power cradle mounted at the sofa's bottom surface. The power cradle includes a cubic power outlet near the front of the sofa, and power cable extending beyond the back of the sofa.
