The invention relates to an hydrolysis vessel (200) used during amidification step of acetone cyanohydrin (ACH), in the industrial process for production of a methyl methacrylate (MMA) or methacrylic acid (MAA). The hydrolysis vessel (200) is used for hydrolyzing acetone cyanohydrine with sulfuric acid to produce a mixture comprising α-sulfatoisobutyramide (SIBAM). It comprises at least one cooling system (212; 244) on its internal annular periphery area and it is divided into at least two stages, preferably three, along its vertical wall, each stage (S1 to S3) comprising a ACH feeding inlet (201, 202, 203). Such vessel allows controlling both homogeneity and temperature of the mixture, and thus obtaining a high yield for the hydrolyzing reaction in very safe conditions.

Provided are a method and apparatus for mixing fluids, whereby small amounts of fluids are effectively mixed. An apparatus for mixing fluids includes: a chamber comprising a first region and a second region; a fluid influx channel connected to the first region through which a plurality of fluids flow into the chamber; a turbulent flow generation film interposed between the first region and the second region that includes through-holes through which the fluids are passed to generate turbulent flow in the fluids in the second region to mix the fluids; and a first fluid discharge channel connected to the second region through which the mixed fluids are discharged. Fluids are mixed without additional external devices. Thus, an apparatus for mixing fluids may be miniaturized while effectively mixing fluids.

The present invention relates, in part, to the discovery that the presence of impurities in a reactor for dehydrochlorinating HCFC-244bb to HFO-1234yf results in selectivity changeover from HFO-1234yf to HCFO-1233xf. By substantially removing such impurities, it is shown that the selectivity to HFO-1234yf via dehydrochlorination of HCFC-244bb is improved.
