Abstract: A method for performing an inhalation using a nebulizer includes filling a reservoir with a medication fluid or connecting a medication container to a designated connecting piece; connecting a nebulizer unit to a control unit and a mouthpiece, at least temporarily activating the nebulizer unit; atomizing the medication fluid into a fine particulate aerosol which is emitted into an aerosol chamber formed by the nebulizer unit and the mouthpiece during activation of the nebulizer unit; performing the inhalation, with a user enclosing the mouthpiece with the lips and during inhalation, drawing air from outside into the aerosol chamber, where the air mixes with the aerosol, and then passes further through the mouthpiece as an air stream and into the respiratory tract and, possibly into the user's lung; measuring a pressure within the aerosol chamber and/or a flow rate through the aerosol chamber or the mouthpiece using the control unit; activating the nebulizer unit with each breath on occurrence of at least one activation criterion detected using the control unit; and deactivating the nebulizer unit with fulfilment of at least one stop criterion, wherein from a degree of fulfilment of the at least one activation and/or stop criterion, a weighted average value is formed and the inhalation is started when the weighted average value exceeds a threshold value.

Abstract: Provided is a system (10) for determining a probability of an asthma exacerbation in a subject. The system comprises an inhaler (100) for delivering a rescue medicament to the subject. The inhaler has a use-detection system (12B) configured to determine a rescue inhalation performed by the subject using the first inhaler. A sensor system (12A) is configured to measure a parameter relating to airflow during the rescue inhalation. The system further comprises a processor (14) configured to determine a number of the rescue inhalations during a first time period, and receive the parameter measured for at least some of the rescue inhalations. The processor determines, using a weighted model, the probability of the asthma exacerbation based on the number of rescue inhalations and the parameters. The model is weighted such that the number of rescue inhalations is more significant in the probability determination than the parameters.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing the risk of fire in an oxygen delivery system. The system may include an oxygen delivery device with a controller in communication with a flow control valve to control a flow of oxygen through a tubing from an oxygen source to a patient interface. The controller may be programmed to close the flow control valve for a predetermined time period at a predetermined time interval to cause a periodic oxygen pause, the periodic oxygen pause to remove oxygen that may serve as an oxidizer when a fire is present inside at least one of the patient interface and the tubing.

The base includes a support portion and an outer annular portion. The support portion has a first opening, the outer annular portion surrounds the support portion, and the support portion protrudes relative to the outer annular portion. The auxiliary fixing member is disposed on the support portion, and has a second opening. The second opening is opposite to the first opening. The atomization member is disposed between the support portion and the auxiliary fixing member. The piezoelectric element is disposed on the outer annular portion, and the piezoelectric element and the atomization member are disposed on a same side of the base. The conductive member is electrically connected to the piezoelectric element. The waterproof member at least partially covers the piezoelectric element.

Abstract: An apparatus for vaporizing a concentrate and/or a non-concentrate material is provided. The apparatus can include a housing, a reservoir, a vessel, and a heating element. The reservoir can be coupled to a lid of the apparatus and configured to hold the concentrate. The vessel can be disposed at least partially inside of the housing and can be configured to receive the reservoir when the lid of the apparatus is in a closed position with respect to the housing. The heating element can be configured to generate heat for heating the vessel, thereby vaporizing the concentrate in the reservoir to form an aerosol. Coupling the reservoir to the lid of the apparatus can enable the apparatus to be used for vaporizing the concentrate while decoupling the reservoir from the lid of the apparatus can enable the apparatus to be used for vaporizing the non-concentrate material. Related methods are also provided.
