摘要: This invention relates to an inhibited non-solubilized granular starch modified by less than 5% of a carboxylated polymer. In addition, a process is provided wherein a non-solubilized, substantially granular starch is mixed with a carboxylated polymer, dried to form a starch/carboxylated polymer blend and then physically treated to form a starch/carboxylated polymer composite. Further, this invention relates to the improved industrial and food products prepared from these starch/carboxylated polymer composites.

摘要: A mixture of a polyester, such as poly(ethylene terephthalate) PET, and an additive combination, when extrusion compounded exhibits a lower residual acetaldehyde content than does PET alone when similarly treated. The additive combination comprises compounds selected from at least two groups wherein the groups are (i.) poly(vinyl alcohol) or ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymer, (ii.) polyhydric alcohols and (iii.) polyacrylamide, polymethacrylamide or copolymer of acrylamide or methacrylamide. The invention pertains to any polyester used in the manufacture of bottles or containers which in turn are used to store consumer materials, especially food, beverages and most especially water.

摘要: The present invention relates to an edible thermoplastic made from about 30 to 50 wt. % protein comprising a mixture of plant and animal derived protein, about 20 to 50 wt. % starch about 10 to 20 wt. % water, about 1 to 10 wt. % edible fiber, and about 0.5 to 3 wt. % metallic salt hydrate. When molded, the thermoplastic has good strength and stiffness and other physical properties. The edible thermoplastic may be molded in a variety of shapes including a segmented nutritional pet chew with a plurality of segments separated by a plurality of scores. The scores serve to structurally weaken the pet chew so that it may be broken into smaller pieces. When molded the edible thermoplastic has a density of about 1.2 to 1.5 g/cubic centimeters.

摘要: Thermoplastic mixture based on biopolymers for producing shaped biodegradable articles with improved properties, preparation of the mixture, and also its use. A novel thermoplastic mixture based on biopolymers, in particular on starch, features the presence of lignin and is used for producing shaped biodegradable articles with improved properties, preferably with improved mechanical properties. The mixture is preferably obtained by preparing, and mixing with one another, A) 100 parts by weight of one or more physiologically nonhazardous, biodegradable, thermoplastically processable polymeric materials selected from the group consisting of polysaccharides and proteins, preferably at least one starch of any type which is native, chemically modified, fermentative, recombinant and/or prepared by biotransformation, and/or derivatives of the starches mentioned; B) from 10 to 100 parts by weight of water; C) from 1 to 100 parts by weight of lignin; D) if desired, up to 50 parts by weight of at least one plasticizer; and E) if desired, up to 200 parts by weight, preferably not more than 100 parts by weight, of other conventional additives; where the components are thermoplastified with introduction of thermal and mechanical energy into the mixture, preferably at an elevated temperature and with simultaneous exertion of shear forces onto the mixture. Surprisingly, the use of lignin with thermoplastic materials based on biopolymers, in particular based on starch, leads to improved thermoplastic materials which have advantages in particular in terms of their mechanical properties or other performance characteristics.
