Abstract: The present disclosure relates to thermoplastic bags with enhanced dart impact resistance. In particular, in one or more embodiments, the disclosed thermoplastic bags include a first sidewall and a second sidewall joined together along a first side edge, a second side edge, and a bottom edge, while having an opening opposite the bottom edge. Furthermore, in some embodiments, the disclosed thermoplastic bags have a pattern of raised rib-like elements and web areas formed in the first sidewall. In one or more embodiments, the pattern of raised rib-like elements and web areas comprises a first motif of deformations that repeats in the pattern and a second motif of deformations interspersed with the first motif of deformations within the pattern. In one or more embodiments, the web areas lack sharp corners. The interspersed motifs and/or the lack of sharp corners can serve to increase dart impact resistance of the thermoplastic bags.

Abstract: Provided herein is: a method of efficiently manufacturing a curable silicone sheet with excellent flatness and uniformity, containing a curable particulate silicone composition with excellent handling/workability and curing properties; and a method of manufacturing a laminate body containing the curable silicone sheet. A method of manufacturing a curable silicone sheet having hot melt properties, comprises the following steps: 1) a step of mixing organopolysiloxane resin fine particles, a curing agent, and a functional filler; 2) a step of kneading while heating and melting the mixture obtained in step 1); 3) a step of laminating the heated and melted mixture obtained in step 2) between films provided with at least one release surface; and 4) a step of stretching the laminate body obtained in step 3) between rollers to mold a curable silicone sheet having a specific film thickness.

Abstract: To provide a gas barrier biaxially oriented polyamide film and a polyamide film mill roll, even as a product that is close to an end of a mill roll, having favorable mechanical characteristics, thermal characteristics, and few S-shape curling due to moisture absorption after being made into a bag. A biaxially oriented polyamide film having at least one layer formed of a polyamide resin containing not lower than 60% by mass of poly(m-xylylene adipamide), wherein a molecular orientation angle of the film is not smaller than 20°, a strain at moisture absorption of the film is not higher than 1.3%, an impact strength of the film is not lower than 0.7 J/15 μm, and a heat shrinkage rate, after heating for ten minutes at 160° C., of the film is 0.6 to 3.0% in both an MD direction and a TD direction.

Abstract: A thermoplastic film which exhibits elastic-like behavior along at least one axis when stretched or elongated and then released. The thermoplastic film comprises a plurality of raised rib-like elements extending in a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the thermoplastic film. The thermoplastic film further includes a plurality of web areas positioned about the plurality of raised rib-like elements. The plurality of raised rib-like elements and plurality of web areas are arranged in a complex pattern. The complex pattern provides visual and tactile cues as the films are stretched or elongated. The complex pattern can cause the thermoplastic film to have a complex stretch profile.

Abstract: A system for controlling the temperature of a film before and/or during application, the system including: a heat source for heating a film; and stretch rollers; wherein the heat source heats the film from an ambient temperature to a temperature from about 2° C. to about 40° C. above the ambient temperature, wherein the film is heated prior to or simultaneous to being stretched by the stretch rollers, and wherein the ambient temperature is below 15° C. A system for improving the application of film by transfer of electrostatic charge is also described. The preheating system and/or electrostatic charge system may be used to enhance binding and sealing properties of stretch films used for wrapping palletized products in a reduced temperature environment. Other embodiments of the preheating film system and electrostatic charge system, and methods for their use, are described herein.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of incrementally stretching polymeric film formed from a blown film extrusion process. The present invention is further directed to a polymeric bag formed from an incrementally stretched polymeric film. The incremental stretching is performed on a collapsed polymeric bubble via a pair of intermeshing rollers. The incrementally stretched polymeric film may be stretched only along a portion of its width. The polymeric bag may be a drawstring trash bag with an extended hem where only the extended hem of the bag or the body of the bag comprises incrementally stretched polymeric film.

Abstract: A technique for initiating the formation of pores in a polymeric material that contains a thermoplastic composition is provided. The thermoplastic composition contains microinclusion and nanoinclusion additives dispersed within a continuous phase that includes a matrix polymer. To initiate pore formation, the polymeric material is mechanically drawn (e.g., bending, stretching, twisting, etc.) to impart energy to the interface of the continuous phase and inclusion additives, which enables the inclusion additives to separate from the interface to create the porous network. The material is also drawn in a solid state in the sense that it is kept at a temperature below the melting temperature of the matrix polymer.
