Abstract: A three-dimensional printing method can include iteratively applying polymer build material as individual layers; based on a three-dimensional object model, selectively jetting an electromagnetic radiation absorber and a translucency-modulating plasticizer onto individual layers of the polymer build material; and exposing the powder bed to electromagnetic energy to selectively fuse portions of individual layers of the polymer build material together to form a three-dimensional object. The polymer build material can include from about 60 wt % to 100 wt % polymeric particles having an average particle size from about 10 μm to about 150 μm and a degree of crystallinity from about 2% to about 60%, to a powder bed. At the locations where the polymer build material includes jetted translucency-modulating plasticizer, the three-dimensional object can exhibit an optical transmittance from about 5% to about 80%.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an enhanced method for the manufacture of a plastic component (135), in particular a cushioning element for sports apparel, the method comprising: opening a mold (100) by a predetermined amount into a loading position, wherein the mold comprises at least two mold parts (110, 112) and wherein the amount by which the mold is opened influences an available loading volume of the mold, loading a material comprising expanded particles (130) into the loading volume, closing the mold into a closed position, wherein during closing of the mold the mold parts are moved together over different distances (140) in different areas of the mold, compressing the expanded particles by closing the mold and fusing at least the surfaces of the expanded particles to mold the plastic component.

Abstract: Methods for manufacturing articles of footwear are provided. In various aspects, the methods comprise utilizing additive manufacturing methods with foam particles. In some aspects, the additive manufacturing methods comprise increasing the temperature of a plurality of foam particles with actinic radiation under conditions effective to fuse a portion of the plurality of foam particles comprising one or more thermoplastic elastomers. Increasing the temperature of the foam particles can be carried out for one or multiple iterations. The disclosed methods can be used to manufacturer articles with sub-regions that exhibit differing degrees of fusion between the foam particles, thereby resulting in sub-regions with different properties such as density, resilience, and/or flexural modulus. This abstract is intended as a scanning tool for purposes of searching in the particular art and is not intended to be limiting of the present disclosure.

The hot end portion (116) further comprises a heat block (118) that is configured to convert the fiber material into a molten form and deposit said fiber material into a composite part (131) through a output nozzle (108). The fiber material is then cut by a cutting assembly (103) after a deposit operation is complete.

Abstract: A three-dimensional (3D) printing method includes applying a build material composition having a polymer particle and a radiation absorbing additive mixed with the polymer particle, the radiation absorbing additive being selected from the group consisting of inorganic near-infrared absorbers, organic near-infrared absorbers, and combinations thereof. The build material composition is preheated to a temperature below the melting temperature of the polymer particle by exposing the build material composition to radiation, the radiation absorbing additive increasing radiation absorption and accelerating the pre-heating of the build material composition. A fusing agent is selectively applied on at least a portion of the build material composition. The method further includes exposing the build material composition to radiation, whereby at least the polymer particle in the at least the portion of the build material composition in contact with the fusing agent at least partially fuses.
