Abstract: Relates to a thermoplastic polyolefin composition including from 50 wt % to 90 wt % of a polypropylene having a melt flow rate from 10 g/10 min to 200 g/10 min; from 10 wt % to 45 wt % of an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer having a melt flow rate from 0.1 g/10 min to 10 g/10 min; from 0.1 wt % to 5 wt % of a propylene-based elastomer having a melt flow rate from 0.1 g/10 min to 10 g/10 min; wherein the melt flow rate of the propylene-based elastomer is between the melt flow rate of the polypropylene and the melt flow rate of the ethylene-α-olefin copolymer, and wherein an amount of the ethylene-derived units in the propylene-based elastomer is between an amount of ethylene-derived units in the polypropylene and an amount of the ethylene-derived units in the ethylene-α-olefin copolymer.

Abstract: A hockey stick apparatus may include a molded blade structure coupled to the proximal end of a hollow shaft structure. The molded blade structure can include: a top edge spaced apart from a bottom edge by a blade height, a heel spaced apart from a toe by a blade length, a front face spaced apart from a back face, and an optional slot defining an aperture extending through front face and the back face. A stiffness of the blade may vary along the blade height by changing the shape of the blade and changing a quadratic momentum of the cross-section along the blade height.

Abstract: A dental appliance for positioning a patient's teeth includes a removable orthodontic tooth positioning appliance having teeth receiving cavities shaped to directly receive at least some of the patient's teeth and apply a resilient positioning force to the patient's teeth. The appliance includes a hard polymer layer having a hard polymer layer elastic modulus disposed between a first soft polymer layer having a first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and a second soft polymer layer having a second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. The hard polymer layer elastic modulus is greater than each of the first soft polymer layer elastic modulus and the second soft polymer layer elastic modulus. At least one of the first soft polymer layer and the second soft polymer layer has a flexural modulus of greater than about 35,000 psi.

Abstract: A catheter comprises a heater control supplying power, a handle, a base catheter with lumen and comprising a proximal section and a distal segment, and a variable stiffness element. The element comprises a heater connected to the heater control, coiled at least at the distal segment, and comprising a shaft portion of a first metallic conductive material and a heater portion of a second metallic conductive material. A jacket is disposed about the heater portion. A variable flex sub-assembly between the catheter and jacket comprises a non-conducting braid and a binding material. Without power, the binding material is stiffened. Responsive to heating of the binding material, the binding material softens to increase flexibility of the variable flex sub-assembly at least at the distal segment. Responsive to removing power, the binding material cools and stiffens to decrease flexibility of the variable flex sub-assembly at least at the distal segment.

Abstract: The present invention provides improved devices, systems and methods for repositioning teeth from an initial tooth arrangement to a final tooth arrangement. Repositioning is accomplished with a system comprising a series of polymeric shell appliances configured to receive the teeth and incrementally reposition individual teeth in a series of successive steps. The individual appliances may be formed from layers having different stiffnesses (elastic moduluses), and the stiffnesses of successive appliances may be different, or both.
