摘要: Provided is a method for manufacturing photoabsorbing contact lenses and photoabsorbing contact lenses produced thereby. The method comprises: (a) providing a mold assembly comprised of a base curve and a front curve, the base curve and the front curve defining and enclosing a cavity therebetween, the cavity containing a reactive mixture, wherein the reactive mixture comprises at least one polymerizable monomer, a photoinitiator which absorbs at an activating wavelength, and a photoabsorbing compound which displays absorption at the activating wavelength; and (b) curing the reactive mixture to form the photoabsorbing contact lens by exposing the reactive mixture to radiation that includes the activating wavelength, wherein the radiation is directed at both the base curve and the front curve of the mold assembly, and wherein the radiation's radiant energy at the base curve is greater than the radiation's radiant energy at the front curve.

摘要: An ink includes a vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane polymer, a polydimethylsiloxane copolymer having a hydride component, wherein a hydride to a vinyl ratio (hydride:vinyl) is in a range of greater than 1:1 to about 4:1, a hydrophobic filler, a crosslinking agent, and a carbon dioxide-binding component. A method includes extruding an ink for forming a three-dimensional (3D) structure, the ink including a vinyl-terminated polydimethylsiloxane polymer, a polydimethylsiloxane copolymer having a hydride component, wherein a hydride to a vinyl ratio (hydride:vinyl) is in a range of greater than 1:1 to about 4:1, a hydrophobic filler, a crosslinking agent, and a carbon dioxide-binding component. The method further includes curing the 3D structure for forming a silicone polymer product having the carbon dioxide-binding component.

摘要: A method of making a self-sealing membrane for a prosthetic implant includes applying tension to a first layer of a cured elastomeric material to stretch the first layer, and while the first layer remains stretched, applying a second layer of an uncured elastomeric material over a first major surface of the first layer. After the second layer is cured, the tension on the first layer is released, whereupon the first layer returns to a non-stretched configuration for holding the second layer in contraction. The method includes, while the first layer remains stretched, applying a third layer of an uncured elastomeric material over a second major surface of the first layer. After curing the second and third layers, tension is released from the first layer, which returns to the non-stretched configuration for holding the second and third layers in contraction.

The waterborne dispersion of the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base can be combined with a free radical initiator, and dried and cured to form a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive.

摘要: In a first aspect of the invention there is provided a method of forming a leading edge protection shield on a wind turbine blade shell. The method comprises providing at least a portion of a wind turbine blade shell comprising a windward surface, a leeward surface, and a leading edge, providing a leading edge mould comprising a concave curved mould surface and arranging the mould over the leading edge of the blade shell such that a generally C-shaped cavity is defined between the blade shell and the mould surface. The method further comprises clamping the mould to the windward surface and/or to the leeward surface of the blade shell using a clamping arrangement spaced from the leading edge in a chordwise direction. The method further comprises providing an edge scaling arrangement positioned between the leading edge and the clamping arrangement in the chordwise direction, and forming a seal between the mould surface and the windward and leeward surfaces of the blade shell using the edge sealing arrangement to define windward and leeward edges of the C-shaped cavity. The mould surface is substantially tangential to the windward and leeward surfaces at the windward and leeward edges such that the C-shaped cavity tapers in thickness towards the windward and leeward edges of the C-shaped cavity. The method further comprises supplying polymer to the C-shaped cavity to form a leading edge protection shield on the blade shell.

摘要: This disclosure presents a streamer filler material that is a low density gel formed from a two-part, mix-curable polymer, and methods of making streamers using such materials. One embodiment of the filler material features a two-part silicone gel mixed with a paraffinic oil. The two-part silicone gel can make up 15% to 25%, by weight or volume, of the mixture. Methods of making such materials include forming a first unreactive mixture having a first reactant, promoter, and/or catalyst and a second unreactive mixture having a second reactant, promoter, and/or catalyst and mixing the first and second mixtures in a paraffinic oil system to make a gel. The streamer can be loaded with the filler by pumping or extruding the mixture.

摘要: A method for producing an optical silicone assembly is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: i) treating a surface of a substrate with an optically clear silicone adhesive composition; ii) placing the substrate obtained by step i) into a mold; iii-a) injecting an optically clear moldable silicone composition into the mold, and/or iii-b) overmolding the optically clear moldable silicone composition onto the substrate; and then iv) heating the optically clear moldable silicone composition to form the optical silicone assembly. The optical silicone assembly produced by the method of this disclosure is characterized by excellent adhesion of an optical silicone product to various types of substrates.
