摘要: A rigid gas permeable prepolymer comprising a reaction product of (a) a rigid gas permeable-forming prepolymer comprising (i) monomeric units derived from a bulky siloxane monomer containing an ethylenically unsaturated reactive end group, and (ii) monomeric units derived from a hydrophilic monomer having one or more reactive functionalities and an ethylenically unsaturated reactive end group, and (b) a monomer having a reactive functionality complementary to one of the one or more reactive functionalities of the hydrophilic monomer and a polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated reactive end group complementary to an ethylenically unsaturated reactive group of a rigid gas permeable contact lens-forming comonomer. Rigid gas permeable contact lenses formed from the rigid gas permeable prepolymers are also disclosed.

摘要: A method of producing a gradient photochromic lens comprises providing a lens and a dyeing trough, with the lens including a front surface and a rear surface; immersing the lens in the dyeing trough to proceed with dyeing, and moving the lens out of the dyeing trough, forming a gradient dyed layer on each of the front surface and the rear surface of the lens after drying and hardening; providing a photochromic optical adhesive including a color changing agent combined with an optical adhesive; providing a film having a bonding face, and disposing the photochromic optical adhesive on the bonding face; and bonding the film to the front surface of the lens via the bonding face. The lens produced from the method provides a gradient photochromic effect while increasing the absorption effect of ultraviolet rays and prolonging the service life.

摘要: Described herein is a method for producing a contact lens comprising a central photochromic zone that has a diameter of about 13 mm or less and is concentric with the central axis of the contact lens. The method comprises: applying a first polymerizable fluid composition containing at least one photochromic compound on a central portion of the molding surface of a female mold half to form a circular layer; partially photocuring, in situ, the circular layer in the female mold half by using a visible light; dispensing a second polymerizable fluid composition over the partially-cured circular layer on the molding surface of the female mold half; and a step of thermally curing the second polymerizable fluid composition and the partially-cured circular layer immersed therein in the mold cavity formed between the molding surfaces of the female mold half and a male mold half.

摘要: A mandrel for holding and positioning an intraocular lens blank during manufacturing includes a shank portion having a central axis and a lens blank holding section configured to hold the lens blank. The holding section includes a central cavity formed concentrically with the central axis of the mandrel. Projections are formed on a surface of the central cavity and are configured to support a first surface of the lens blank at a fixed distance from the surface of the central cavity. A ring fits within a peripheral portion of the central cavity to hold a second opposing surface of the lens blank. A method for making an intraocular lens using the mandrel includes filling the space formed under the first surface of the lens with a liquid, such as water, freezing the liquid, and then machining and/or milling the second surface of the lens blank.

摘要: The invention is directed to a cast molding method for making embedded hydrogel contact lenses. The method comprises a step of actinically curing a lens-forming composition in specific locations in molding assemblies each of which is formed from one male lens mold half and one female insert mold half having a molded insert adhered thereon and comprises the lens-forming composition filling a gap between the back surface of the mold insert and the molding surface of the male lens mold half. This tack curing step ensures molded inserts adhered through multiple spots to the molding surface of each male lens mold halves which in turn will be used together with a female lens mold half in cast-molding of a lens forming composition to form an embedded silicone hydrogel contact lens.
