摘要: A tooling system may include a cure tool and a biasing element. The cure tool may have a cure tool coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) and may be configured for curing a composite article formed of two or more components having dissimilar component CTEs. The biasing element may be fixedly attached to the cure tool and has a biasing element CTE that may be different than the cure tool CTE. The biasing element may be configured such that a combination of the cure tool CTE and the biasing element CTE causes a heat-up displacement in the cure tool when heated and the composite article is cured in a distorted shape. When the cured composite article is cooled, the cured composite article may substantially assume an as-designed shape.

摘要: A method and apparatus for manufacturing composite components. A tool is present for use in manufacturing composite components. The tool comprises an encapsulation layer having a shape, an insulation layer on the encapsulation layer, and an isolation layer on the insulation layer. The isolation layer has an outer surface capable of contacting a composite material laid up on the outer surface. The insulation layer is capable of insulating the encapsulation layer from heat applied to the composite material. The encapsulation layer is capable of maintaining a shape with the composite material laid up on the isolation layer during a curing process to form a composite component from the composite material.

摘要: Provided is a technology for solving the drawback such as chipping of a heat-insulating layer which is caused by the contact of a heat-insulating layer formed on a first mold with a second mold at the mold parting surface. A mold divided into two or more is provided in which a heat-insulating layer is formed on a substantially entire surface of an inner wall surface of the mold, and the heat-insulating layer does not exist on a mold parting surface. For example, the mold is provided with a first mold occupying a majority of a cavity and a second mold which forms at least a part of the cavity together with the first mold, in which the first mold is provided with a flange part, and a part of a surface of the flange part constitutes a part of the mold parting surface.

摘要: In a ceramic tool and associated method of making it, a ceramic base is infused with a material. The material is preferably a metal based compound advantageously chrome oxide. The chemical formulation of the material can be modified in order to optimize the rate of material deposition and the desired surface performance. The depth of the infusion is advantageously 0.1 to 1 mm preferably 0.25 mm. The moulding surface of the tool may be treated to vapour or oat blasting. The resultant tool has a longer life and may be used without a release agent.
