摘要: An implant delivery system having an implant-pusher junction that has improved flexibility due to a shortened heater and tapered marker band. The heater capsule includes a coil having a complex shape made possible through additive manufacturing. The complex shape generates increased heat over a shorter length when compared to traditional linear coils. The marker band includes a tapered end that allows the implant to pivot relative to the pusher.

摘要: A system for facet joint fusion includes a cannula having a body and a navigation arm mounted to the body. The navigation arm includes a base and a plurality of individual arms mounted to the base. The navigation arm also includes one or more markers mounted to the plurality of individual arms. The system also includes an imaging system configured to identify a position of the one or more markers relative to a facet joint of a patient. The system further includes a rotary tool that is configured to mount within the cannula. The rotary tool is configured to create a void in the facet joint by way of the cannula, and the void is configured to receive a bone graft or bone growth promoting material.

摘要: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for aiding a surgeon to perform a surgical procedure on an eye. The surgical procedure includes inserting an elongate probe from an opening into the eye across an anterior chamber to a target tissue region comprising a trabecular meshwork and a Schlemm's canal. Exemplary systems include an optical microscope for the surgeon to view the eye with a microscope image during the procedure; an optical coherence tomography (OCT) apparatus configured to perform an OCT scan of a target location in the target tissue region during the procedure; and an image processing apparatus configured to generate an augmented image by overlaying an OCT image of target location and a graphical visual element identifying the locations, wherein the graphical visual element is registered with the microscope image to aid the surgeon in advancing a distal end of the elongate probe to the target location.

摘要: A method for the spatial mapping of a model of a surgical tool onto a spatial position of the surgical tool includes a) providing a surgical tool having a working part and a marker in the form of a visual image on a surface; b) providing a tool model of the surgical tool; c) providing a viewing device configured to be carried by a user and including a camera configured to capture a view and to generate camera data representative of the view; d) creating a spatial model of a space viewed by the camera; e) bringing the surgical tool within the space viewed b y the camera; f) identifying a representation of the marker in the camera data; g) determining a position and rotation of the representation of the marker with respect to the spatial model, and h) creating a spatial mapping of the tool model in the spatial model.

摘要: A method of marking lesions is disclosed herein. The disclosed method may assist surgeons localize small nodules by marking the nodules with a fiducial coil soaked with a fluorescent dye. In some preferred embodiments, the fiducial coil is placed at the time of biopsy using a robotic surgery system. In alternate embodiments, non-robotic peripheral navigation platforms may also be used effectively as an adjunct to surgical resection. The dye marks the location of a nodule, making it visible and palpable at the time of surgery. A surgeon may then target cancerous tissue with greater precision. The disclosed method allows a fiducial coil to be placed several days prior to surgery.

摘要: A surgical system, method and CAD program are provided. The surgical system includes a digitization device including a pointer tip to contact a target site and actuatable control input(s). A surgical tool can manipulate the target site. A navigation system tracks a state of the digitization device. Controller(s) receive the tracked state of the digitization device and display, within a virtual reference frame, a virtual representation of the pointer tip. In response to actuation of the control input(s), the controller(s) register virtual reference points within the virtual reference frame based on the pose of the virtual representation of the pointer tip and enable arrangement of one or more geometrical design objects within the virtual reference frame relative to the registered virtual reference points to generate a virtual boundary that defines a region of the target site to be avoided by the surgical tool.

摘要: A medical robot system, including a robot coupled to an effectuator element with the robot configured for controlled movement and positioning. The system may include a transmitter configured to emit one or more signals, and the transmitter is coupled to an instrument coupled to the effectuator element. The system may further include a motor assembly coupled to the robot and a plurality of receivers configured to receive the one or more signals emitted by the transmitter. A control unit is coupled to the motor assembly and the plurality of receivers, and the control unit is configured to supply one or more instruction signals to the motor assembly. The instruction signals can be configured to cause the motor assembly to selectively move the effectuator element and is further configured to (i) calculate a position of the at least one transmitter by analysis of the signals received by the plurality of receivers; (ii) display the position of the at least one transmitter with respect to the body of the patient; and (iii) selectively control actuation of the motor assembly in response to the signals received by the plurality of receivers.
