摘要: The present invention generally relates to systems and methods for delivering and/or receiving a substance or substances such as blood from subjects. In one aspect, the present invention is directed to devices and methods for receiving or extracting blood from a subject, e.g., from the skin and/or from beneath the skin, using devices containing a substance transfer component (for example, one or more needles or microneedles) and a reduced pressure or vacuum chamber having an internal pressure less than atmospheric pressure prior to receiving blood. In some embodiments, the device may contain a “snap dome” or other deformable structure, which may be used, at least in part, to urge or move needles or other suitable substance transfer components into the skin of a subject. In some cases, for example, the device may contain a flexible concave member and a needle mechanically coupled to the flexible concave member such that the needle may be urged or moved into the skin using the flexible concave member. Other aspects of the present invention are directed at other devices for receiving blood (or other bodily fluids, e.g., interstitial fluid), kits involving such devices, methods of making such devices, methods of using such devices, and the like.

摘要: Biopsy tissue sample processing method and system configured to collect a tissue sample in a cradle at a distal portion of a biopsy needle. The cradle has an axially extending floor and two rows of teeth that extend up from sides of the cradle bottom. In each row, the teeth are axially spaced from each other. Dislodging the tissue sample from said cradle involves lightly touching, in a touch-and-go freehand motion of the cradle relative to the strip, an exposed side of the tissue sample in the cradle to a strip that has a surface configured to dislodge the tissue sample from the cradle without a need for an adhesive The cradle teeth protect the tissue sample from radial compression beyond a threshold in said touch-and-go motion and otherwise help maintain sample integrity.

摘要: A transperineal biopsy guide for use with a tubular structure and a transrectal probe. The tubular structure is sized to receive a biopsy instrument therethrough. The transrectal probe including a longitudinal axis and configured to provide imaging in a sagittal plane of the transrectal probe. The transperineal biopsy guide includes a mount attachable to the transrectal probe, and an opening above the mount and pivotable relative to the mount about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the transrectal probe when the mount is attached to the transrectal probe. When the tubular structure is received by the opening and the mount is attached to the transrectal probe, the tubular structure can be pivoted in the sagittal plane of the transrectal probe via pivoting of the opening relative to the mount.
