Abstract: A composite safety toothbrush is disclosed, and in particular, methods for making and forming the composite. The toothbrush apparatus detailed herein employs a composite head made from a rigid inner polymer material and a softer thermoplastic material surrounding the inner material. The softer material provides safety for prison toothbrush applications as well as elderly and patient care where care givers may brush the teeth of a patient. Innovative pin connectors in the inner toothbrush head assist in the composite formation. The toothbrush solution herein further importantly provides for a toothbrush having a flexible handle, also providing safety in a prison environment.

Abstract: A method of making an iridescent, vehicular trim assembly is provided that includes: molding a polymeric base comprising an exterior surface; and over-molding an element over at least a portion of the exterior surface. The element comprises a polymeric, translucent material and an exterior surface with an integral diffraction grating having a thickness from 250 to 1000 nm and a period from 50 nanometers to 5 microns. Further, the molding can be conducted such that the polymeric base is molded with a tint. The method can also include forming a plated region over the exterior surface of the base. In addition, the method can also include cleaning the plated region with a plasma-etching process before the over-molding.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of manufacturing a housing and an electronic device. The method comprises the following steps: preparing a mold according to a predetermined shape of the housing, wherein the mold comprises at least one moving die and at least one fixed die, a first texture structure is formed on the inner surface of the mold, and the first texture structure comprises a plurality of projections arranged in a first arrangement, and a groove recesses inwardly is formed between any two adjacent projections, and the groove is formed by etching and removing a part of the moving die and/or the fixed die by the laser engraving method; closing the moving die and the fixed die, and heating the mold to a predetermined mold temperature; and injecting a raw material in a melting state into the mold cavity of the mold; retaining a pressure of the raw material in the mold cavity of the mold; cooling the mold; opening the mold to complete the housing. The housing made of the first material exhibits a second material effect in visual and/or tactile senses.

Abstract: Provided is a method for producing a foam-molded article that has excellent rigidity, impact resistance, and external appearance, and is capable of ductile fracture. The method for producing a foam-molded article of the present invention includes a kneading step of melt-kneading a resin composition in the presence of a foaming agent, the resin composition containing 100 parts by weight of a propylene-based resin, 1 to 30 parts by weight of an aromatic vinyl-based thermoplastic elastomer, and 1 to 30 parts by weight of an inorganic filler, and a foaming step of injecting the resin composition in a molten state into a mold, to foam and mold the resin composition. The method can produce a foam-molded article that has excellent rigidity, impact resistance, and external appearance, and is capable of ductile fracture.
