Abstract: A method of filling a microcavity with layers of a polymer material includes the following steps: (A) estimating a current vertical position of a bottom of the microcavity (current bottom position); (B) lowering the capillary tube into the microcavity towards the current bottom position; (C) dispensing a polymer composition from a tube outlet of the capillary tube under a dispensing applied pressure until the polymer composition substantially fills the microcavity; (D) curing a work piece including the microcavity and the polymer composition in the microcavity to obtain a current layer of the polymer material; and (E) repeatedly executing steps (A), (B), (C), and (D), until the layers of the polymer material have substantially filled the microcavity.

Abstract: A material discharge device includes: a drive motor; a screw having a groove formation surface and configured to rotate; a barrel having a facing surface and formed with a communication hole through which a plasticized material flows; a heating unit configured to heat the material; a nozzle from which the material is injected to an outside; and a plurality of measurement units configured to measure a pressure or a temperature of the material. The measurement units are disposed at an outer periphery of a nozzle channel wall, and a thickness of the nozzle channel wall satisfies the following (1) or (2): (1) when the nozzle channel wall is made of a material containing iron as a main component, the thickness of the nozzle channel wall is 0.2 mm or more and 2.5 mm or less; and (2) when the nozzle channel wall is made of a material containing aluminum as a main component, the thickness of the nozzle channel wall is 0.2 mm or more and 4 mm or less.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method of coinjection molding a multilayer article using a coinjection nozzle having inner outlet, an outer outlet, and an intermediate outlet between the inner and outer outlets is provided. A stream of surface layer material is injected into a mold cavity from the intermediate outlet. With the injection ongoing, two streams of internal layer material are injected from the inner and outer outlets of the coinjection nozzle respectively. The two streams sandwich the stream of surface layer material and flow behind a melt front of the surface layer material. The sandwiched stream of surface layer material continues to supply the melt front with surface layer material at least until the melt front nears a distal end of the mold cavity. The resultant article is substantially or entirely encapsulated by a skin of the surface layer material and contains a high proportion of internal layer material.

Abstract: An injection nozzle for use in an injection molding machine. The injection nozzle has a nozzle body. The nozzle body has a tip section, a nut section, a threaded section that are interposed between a first end and a second end. A conduit extends through the nozzle body between an intake orifice and an output orifice. Within the nozzle body, the conduit has a first zone and a second zone that meet at a transition area. The first zone extends into the nozzle body from the first end. The second zone extends into the nozzle body from the second end. Fins radially extend into the first zone of the conduit. The fins absorb heat from material passing through the first zone of the conduit. The fins can cause molten material to cool quicker in the first zone of the conduit than in the second zone of the conduit.

Abstract: An injection molding machine includes: a plunger provided inside a barrel and capable of moving forward and backward in an axial direction thereof and rotating about an axis thereof; a feed hole for feeding a molding material in liquid form into a front of the plunger; a packing provided on a backward side of the feed hole to prevent the molding material fed through the feed hole from flowing backward along the plunger; and a controller for controlling a retracting movement of the plunger based on pressure of the molding material fed from the feed hole to thereby perform metering. In this configuration, at least part of the feed hole is covered by a side surface of the plunger at least from start to end of the retracting movement.
