Abstract:
Systems and methods for processing and analyzing samples are disclosed. The system may process samples, such as biological fluids, using assay cartridges which can be processed at different processing locations. In some cases, the system can be used for PCR processing. The different processing locations may include a preparation location where samples can be prepared and an analysis location where samples can be analyzed. To assist with the preparation of samples, the system may also include a number of processing stations which may include processing lanes. During the analysis of samples, in some cases, thermal cycler modules and an appropriate optical detection system can be used to detect the presence or absence of certain nucleic acid sequences in the samples. The system can be used to accurately and rapidly process samples.

Abstract:
In a high-density sequence detection system, an apparatus for transporting a microplate. A control system provides a thermocycler control signal to regulate a desired thermal output of a thermocycler block. A frame has a first side, a second side, and an opening that extends through the first side and the second side. A window is positioned in the opening and a circumferential seal is positioned around a periphery of the opening at the second side. The seal has a peripheral lip that seals against the microplate. A clamp is adapted to engage and displace the frame from an unclamped position to a clamped position, wherein in the unclamped position, the microplate is displaced away from the thermocycler block and in the clamped position, the clamp urges the microplate against the thermocycler block. In some embodiments the peripheral lip is positioned radially inward of the periphery of the opening.

Abstract:
A microfluidic device and method for fabrication includes a microfluidic channel that has a closed portion, which comprises: a liquid pathway formed by a wetting area; and an anti-wetting area extending along and contiguously with the liquid pathway. The anti-wetting area is configured so as to provide a vent to evacuate gas along the anti-wetting area.
Abstract:
An integrated microfluidic device and its usage are provided. The microfluidic device comprises an upper layer (1) and a lower layer (2), wherein the lower layer (2) is bound to the upper layer (1). The upper layer (1) comprises a micro-channel (3) and the lower layer (2) comprises a micro-well (7) array. The micro-channel (3) is in fluidic connection with the micro-well (7) array, and the height of the micro-channel (3) is greater than the diameter of the oocyte (4) flowing through the micro-channel (3). The integrated microfluidic device has many advantages including low cost, high integration, and convenient operation, and has application prospects in reproductive medicine and the research of fertilization and embryo early development.
Abstract:
An interface comprising: a plurality of external ports configured to fluidically communicate with a plurality of ports of a fluidic delivery platform; and a plurality of engaging conduits configured to fluidically communicate with a plurality of ports of a microfluidic biochip, wherein a tolerance of both the plurality of external ports and/or the plurality of engaging conduits is significantly tighter than a tolerance of the plurality of ports of the microfluidic biochip.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for sample separation, particularly for blood separation, in which the sample liquid is introduced into a feed device. The sample flows vertically through a separating device such as a filter or a membrane, so that sample particles are retained and separated off.The sample liquid thus separated, particularly blood plasma, is received by an inlet chamber underneath the separating device and conveyed by means of a channel in the lateral direction out of the inlet chamber.Particularly advantageously, the channel extends into the inlet chamber, the channel being formed by a recess in the base of the inlet chamber.
