Abstract: Assay cartridges are described that have a detection chamber, preferably having integrated electrodes, and other fluidic components which may include sample chambers, waste chambers, conduits, vents, bubble traps, reagent chambers, dry reagent pill zones and the like. In certain embodiments, these cartridges are adapted to receive and analyze a sample collected on an applicator stick. Also described are kits including such cartridges and a cartridge reader configured to analyze an assay conducted using an assay cartridge.

Abstract: A fluid delivery device is configured to create a pressure differential across a compartment in which a liquid resides, causing the liquid to flow through the compartment. After a period of time, the fluid delivery device is configured to eliminate the pressure differential and thereby equilibrate the pressure across the compartment, with the use of a pressure equilibration channel that is separate from the compartment. The compartment may contain a packed bed of solid phase particles such as beads. In such case, the pressure differential causes the liquid to flow through the packed bed. The liquid may include chemical reagents or precursors that participate in chemical reactions on or at the solid phase particles. The reactions may relate to chemical synthesis, for example the synthesis of bio-chemicals such as nucleotides.

Abstract: A biological fluid collection device that receives a sample and provides flow-through blood stabilization technology and a precise sample dispensing function for point-of-care and near patient testing applications is disclosed. A biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure is able to effectuate distributed mixing of a sample stabilizer within a blood sample and dispense the stabilized sample in a controlled manner. In this manner, a biological fluid collection device of the present disclosure enables blood micro-sample management, e.g., passive mixing with a sample stabilizer and controlled dispensing, for point-of-care and near patient testing applications.
