摘要: An electrolysis device comprising a cell containing a solution, a pair of electrodes installed in the cell, and a voltage application device connected to the pair of electrodes. One electrode of the pair of electrodes is a small electrode, and another electrode of the pair of electroeds is a large electrode. An area of a liquid-contacting portion of the small electrode with the solution is smaller than an area of a liquid-contacting portion of the large electrode with the solution. In a state in which the solution is contained in the cell, only the solution is present between the liquid-contacting portion of the small electrode and a liquid surface of the solution vertically above the liquid-contacting portion of the small electrode.

摘要: A sample chamber assembly for molten metal comprises a cover plate and a housing. A first face of the housing has a depression in direct flow communication with a first opening formed at the immersion end of the housing. The cover plate and the housing are assembled together along a first plane to form a sample cavity including the depression. An analysis surface of a solidified metal sample lies in the first plane. The sample cavity and the first opening are aligned along a common longitudinal axis. The first opening is spaced apart from the first plane. A ratio of the thermal diffusivities of the solidified metal sample and the housing material is between 0.1 and 0.5. The housing is inseparable from the solidified metal sample. A portion of the housing is directly adjacent to the solidified metal sample and lies in the first plane.

摘要: A pulse train comprising chirped pulses can be used to excite a sample, such as for spectroscopic analysis. The respective chirped pulses can include a frequency sweep to establish a first frequency-domain comb. A width of frequency-domain comb peaks can be established at least in part by a total duration of the pulse train, and a bandwidth of the first frequency-domain comb can be determined at least in part by a bandwidth of the frequency sweep of the respective chirped pulses. A free-space or enclosed sample interaction region can be used.

摘要: Graphitic nanotubes, which include tubular fullerenes (commonly called “buckytubes”) and fibrils, which are functionalized by chemical substitution, are used as solid supports in electrogenerated chemiluminescence assays. The graphitic nanotubes are chemically modified with functional group biomolecules prior to use in an assay. Association of electrochemiluminescent ruthenium complexes with the functional group biomolecule-modified nanotubes permits detection of molecules including nucleic acids, antigens, enzymes, and enzyme substrates by multiple formats.

摘要: A pulse train comprising chirped pulses of electromagnetic energy can be used to excite a sample, such as for spectroscopic analysis. The respective chirped pulses can include a frequency sweep across a first specified bandwidth during a respective chirped pulse duration, the respective chirped pulse duration establishing a first frequency-domain comb peak separation. A width of a frequency-domain comb peak can be established at least in part by a total duration of the pulse train, and a bandwidth of the first frequency-domain comb can be determined at least in part by the first specified bandwidth of the frequency sweep of the respective chirped pulses.
