摘要: A method for magnetic cellular manipulation may include contacting a composition with a biological sample to form a mixture. The composition may include a plurality of particles. Each particle in the plurality of particles may include a magnetic substrate. The magnetic substrate may be characterized by a magnetic susceptibility greater than zero. The composition may also include a chargeable silicon-containing compound. The chargeable silicon-containing compound may coat at least a portion of the magnetic substrate. The biological sample may include cells and/or cellular structures. The method may also include applying a magnetic field to the mixture to manipulate the composition.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for detecting cell-bound and soluble antigens in a biological sample are described. The method comprises forming complexes of at least one antibody-coated bead and at least one antigen in a solution, placing the solution in a magnetic field such that the formed complexes levitate in the solution at a particular height, and determining at least one characteristic of the antigen in the complexes based, at least in part, on an image of the complexes showing the magnetic levitation height.

摘要: Described herein are various systems, methods, and apparatus for systematic creation of isolated homogeneous colonies of cells from vector-based lineages. The vector-based lineages may originate from multiple types of viral vector families (e.g., Paramyx-oviridae, Retroviridae, Parvoviridae) or non-natural engineered vectors or a plurality of vector combinations, for example. In certain embodiments, the isolated homogeneous colonies of cells are vector-free sub-colonies; in other embodiments, the isolated homogeneous colonies of cells are homogeneous vector sub-colonies. In other embodiments, vector mixed sub-colonies are created. The disclosed systems, methods, and apparatus are useful for inducible pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) production and work by selectively binding to one or more corresponding protein markers expressed on the surface of a cell that indicate that cellular reprogramming has occurred. Software is used to automate the purification and isolation of the iPSCs produced.

摘要: Improved systems and methods for collecting, isolating and analyzing trophoblasts from the endocervical canal for prenatal genetic testing are disclosed. Particularly, an endocervical sample collection device is disclosed, where that collection device is enhanced with surface nanostructures/microstructures and functionalized with trophoblast specific antibodies to allow the collection device to preferentially adhere to and pick up fetal trophoblasts as opposed to maternal cells and/or non-cellular materials such as endocervical mucus. In addition, a non-caustic mucolytic preparation for treating endocervical sample to remove mucus while keeping the trophoblast cells intact and viable for downstream culturing and processing is disclosed.
