Abstract:
Methods of manufacturing a length of a flexible polymeric medical tubing of the kind comprising a tubing member defining a lumen, which tubing member is surrounded by spiral convolutions along at least a part of the length of the proximal section and/or the distal section, and which medical tubing has a proximal convoluted section and a distal convoluted section, is disclosed, as well as medical tubings obtained by the methods and their uses. One method comprises the steps of providing a medical tubing wherein the proximal section and the distal section have substantially uniform initial pitch (Pinitial) between adjacent convolutions, and modifying the initial pitch (Pinitial) of at least a part of the proximal section by stretching at least a part of the proximal section to achieve a modified proximal section with a proximal pitch (Pproximal) between adjacent convolutions that is larger than the initial pitch (Pinitial) between adjacent convolutions. In another method the medical tubing is manufactured in a molding process. The so obtained medical tubing is particularly suited for use in open surgical procedures that requires suction and/or irrigation during use of an electrosurgical instrument.
Abstract:
A method of making blow-molded perforated tubing and the tubing made by said method is provided. In the method of the invention, hollow-walled protuberances are blow molded into the side of the tubing as the tubing is formed and perforations are formed by cutting the hollow-walled protuberances.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for shaping and cooling a smooth thin wall pipe, obtained from extrusion of a thermoplastic material, into a corrugated pipe shape. The most common technology to produce plastic corrugated pipe uses a series of split molds carried by two continuous chains, the split molds locking around an extruded smooth pipe which by means of a slight positive pressure is forced against the inside walls of the molds (which travel at extrusion speed) therefore shaping the hot plastic pipe into a corrugated shape. At the same time excessive heat is dissipated by a forced flow of air passing over the outside surface of the molds. This system requires a great number of molds and therefore machines of great encumberance.
Abstract:
A seamless convoluted hose assembly. The assembly includes: a tubular inner liner having an outer surface, an inner surface, and an inner liner wall therebetween which defines a passageway. The assembly further includes a helical coil or a plurality of annular loops which produce convolutions in the outer surface of the tubular liner when the tubular inner liner is forced through the helical coil or plurality of loops under heat and pressure.
Abstract:
A pipe coupling for triple wall corrugated plastic pipe includes a triple wall corrugated bellmouth connector that is of a unitary construction with one end of the corrugated plastic pipe. This bellmouth connector is of higher strength and in cooperation with the two wall corrugated spigot provides a high strength coupling. This coupling includes the bellmouth connector and spigot that are made inline with the corrugated pipe. A method for the manufacture of the pipe includes controlling of an air pressure on the outside of a formed two wall corrugated pipe as an exterior third wall is secured thereto.
Abstract:
The present invention involves a fabrication of plastic-tube-screen-fill using plastic tubes. The plastic-tube-screen-fill consists of several plastic tubes suspending between top and bottom tube holding perforated frames in the shape of a rectangular thin plate as a vertical string screen. The tube holding perforated frames are in same configuration to be used in two ways and fabricated by assembling a perforated frame and tube holding frame. The tube holding frame is a straight male band connector with several short solid rods positioned and fixed on band for push-fitting into the holes on perforated frame. The short solid rod on tube holding frame has a male push-fit connector on its lower part to be push-fitted into one edge of tube. The tubes used in the present invention are spiral corrugated tubes. Fabrication and assembling method of perforated frames, tube holding frames, and spiral corrugated tubes are described in the present invention.

Abstract:
A molding apparatus for the manufacture of pipe advantageously uses a cooling plug that is adjustably-secured to the extrusion head to compensate for misalignment of the extrusion head relative to recirculating mold blocks. This provides a simplified adjustment for adjusting the molding apparatus to correct for wall thickness variations in the molded pipe. This apparatus can be used in combination with existing alignment systems.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a production process of a heat shrinkable film which is transparent, excellent in the balance of physical properties such as rigidity, elongation and shrink properties in both MD and TD, especially has a uniform film thickness and good stability in extrusion molding film while utilizing an inflation method; a block copolymer or hydrogenated product thereof, or a composition composed thereof excellent in tensile properties, optical properties, hardness, stretch properties, molding processability, shrink properties and solvent resistance and therefore suited for extrusion, injection molding and foams. The production process of a heat shrinkable film has a first inflation step of forming a tube having a thickness of from 0.05 to 0.5 mm by using a block copolymer having a vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon content of from 65 to 95 wt. % and a conjugated diene content of from 5 to 35 wt. %, or a hydrogenated product of the block copolymer; and a second inflation step, successively to the first inflation step, stretching the tube to from 1.5 to 5 times the original length in the TD in a fluid of from 65 to 100° C.
Abstract:
An apparatus for continuously producing a heat-shrinkable crosslinked resin tube from a crosslinkable resin is provided, comprising in successive connection, an extruder head for extruding the resin into a hollow tube, a fluid under pressure being introduced into the interior of the tube being extruded, a crosslinking cylinder disposed downstream of the head for heating the tubular resin for crosslinking, a flare die disposed downstream thereof for allowing the tube to expand under the fluid pressure, a cooling cylinder disposed downstream thereof for cooling the tube, a guide for deforming the tube into a flattened form, and rollers for pressing and drawing the tube away from the extruder head, wherein a smooth interior surface free of a substantial gap or step extends continuously from the crosslinking cylinder to the cooling cylinder.
