摘要: This disclosure relates to capped block copolymers, preferably reverse block copolymers capped with a hydrophobic group. Preferred hydrophobic groups include benzyl groups and silyl groups. In a preferred embodiment, the reverse block copolymer has at least two arms, wherein each arm is capped with a hydrophobic group. The disclosure also provides for the synthesis of the capped block copolymers as well as methods of using the capped block copolymers for defoaming and antifoaming applications.

摘要: Proposed are a core-satellite micelle containing a tetra-block copolymer and a preparation method thereof. The core-satellite micelle includes a core, a shell surrounding the core, and a plurality of satellite domains positioned inside the shell. The core-satellite micelle contains a tetra-block copolymer represented by Structural Formula 1 below. The shell includes a first-monomer first block A1 and a first-monomer second block A2, and the satellite domain includes a second-monomer first block B1 and a second-monomer second block B2. The core-satellite micelle is foiled through self-assembly of the tetra-block copolymer, thereby having a larger interfacial contact area than existing block-copolymer micelles. Therefore, the core-satellite micelle can be used in next-generation nanotechnology applications such as drug delivery systems, porous catalyst materials, and sensors.

摘要: An anion exchange membrane is provided by converting carbon-carbon double bonds in the backbone of polystyrene-block-polybutadiene-block-polystyrene (SBS) into epoxide groups. Unmodified SBS is first partially hydrogenated to remove about 65% to about 90% of carbon-carbon double bonds. The remaining double bonds are then converted to epoxide groups to form an epoxidized SBS. UV-initiated ring opening reactions between the epoxidized SBS and haloalkyloxiranes are then employed to simultaneously functionalize and crosslink the epoxidized SBS. The halide groups in the crosslinked polymer network can be replaced via nucleophilic substitution to offer anion conductivity, e.g., via reaction with trimethylamine. Further ion exchange reactions can then be performed to make the membrane hydroxide conductive. The crosslinked membranes described herein exhibit a mechanical strength improvement of 200% compared to unmodified SBS, while maintaining high hydroxide conductivity. This synthetic platform is advantageous to provide mechanically robust anion exchange membranes for fuel cell applications.

摘要: The present inventive concept provides a self-healing copolymer or self-healing block copolymer, a method of preparing the same, and a film comprising the same. The self-healing copolymer is a copolymer containing three or more types of monomers such as a methacrylate-based compound as a first monomer, an acrylate-based compound as a second monomer, and] N-2-(phthalimido ethyl methacrylate) (NPEMA), phenyl methacrylate (PMA) or N-(4-hydroxyphenyl)methacrylamide (HPMMA) as a third monomer. The self-healing block copolymer is a block copolymer comprising a self-healing random copolymer containing three or more types of monomers and a styrene-based compound polymerized at the end of the self-healing random copolymer. The film comprising the self-healing copolymer or self-healing block copolymer can self-heal at low temperature or at room temperature in the event of structural damage such as cracks and scratches formed on the surface without the need for additional processes, thereby offering excellent utility in various applications.

摘要: The disclosure relates to a cured composition obtained by curing a curable polymer composition comprising: (a) at least one hydroxyl group containing compound selected from diols, triols, tetraols, polyols, polymeric polyols, and mixtures thereof; and (b) a sulfonated styrenic block copolymer (SSBC) containing a block A, a block B, and a block D. Each block A and D is resistant to sulfonation and the block B is susceptible to sulfonation having a degree of sulfonation of >10 mole %. The curable polymer composition is cured by treating with radiation or thermal energy for improved mechanical properties. The cured composition can be used as a membrane in water purification applications.
