A Cu/ceramic bonded body according to the present invention is formed by bonding a copper member made of copper or a copper alloy and a ceramic member made of AlN or Al2O3 using a bonding material containing Ag and Ti, in which a Ti compound layer made of a Ti nitride or a Ti oxide is formed at a bonding interface between the copper member and the ceramic member, and Ag particles are dispersed in the Ti compound layer.

A high dielectric nanosheet laminate is produced by laminating nanosheets, each of which has a thickness of 10 nm or less and is formed of an oxide that has a perovskite structure wherein at least four NbO6 octahedrons, TaO6 octahedrons or TiO6 octahedrons are included in a unit lattice. Consequently, the high dielectric nanosheet laminate is capable of achieving a high dielectric constant and a satisfactory insulation property, which are preferable for high dielectric nanosheet multilayer capacitors or the like, at the same time even if formed very thin.

A multilayer component includes a dielectric ceramic material that can be co-sintered with a varistor ceramic to form a monolithic multilayer component according to the invention. The multilayer component therefore includes a layer of a varistor ceramic and another layer of a dielectric. Both layers can be arranged directly adjacent to one another in the multilayer component. In the multilayer component, metallizations are arranged on or between the ceramic layers. The metallizations are structured to form conductor sections and metallized areas. The metallizations form together with the ceramic layers alongside a varistor at least one further component selected from at least one of the component functions.

Improved methods of bonding solid materials include a step of fabricating a micro-column array (MCA) on at least one surface to be bonded. The MCA formation process can be modified to cause and/or prevent chemical alteration of the surface being treated or to deposit a coating on the surface. In a preferred embodiment, the MCA is fabricated by laser treating the surface, such as by laser ablation.
