摘要: Some variations provide an interspersed assembly of nanoparticles, the assembly comprising a first phase containing first nanoparticles and a second phase containing second nanoparticles, wherein the second phase is interspersed with the first phase, and wherein the first nanoparticles are compositionally different than the second nanoparticles. The interspersed assembly may be a semi-ordered assembly comprising discrete first-phase particles surrounded by a continuous second phase. Other variations provide a core-shell assembly of nanoparticles, the assembly comprising a first phase containing first nanoparticles and a second phase containing compositionally distinct second nanoparticles, wherein the second phase forms a shell surrounding a core of the first phase. The disclosed assemblies may have a volume from 1 μm3 to 1 mm3, a packing fraction from 20% to 100%, and an average relative surface roughness less than 5%, for example. Methods of making these assemblies are described, and many experimental examples are included.

摘要: Disclosed is a device for a solid phase extraction comprising two or more of the sorbents to remove phospholipids and salts from a sample, to thereby eliminate matrix effects during mass spectrometry analysis. In particular, the sorbents includes at least one sorbent which is water-wettable and contains at least one hydrophobic component and at least one hydrophilic component and at least one of sorbent having a specific affinity for a matrix interference like phospholipids. Further disclosed is a method using the device of the present invention.

摘要: The present disclosure discusses a method of separating and/or purifying polynucleotides. The method includes injecting a sample into a chromatographic column that is packed with a porous sorbent having a pore size that substantially excludes the polynucleotides from the sorbent. This restricted access to the sorbent allows separation of large polynucleotides from each other and from smaller molecular weight impurities.

摘要: The present disclosure is directed to affinity chromatography devices including a fibrillated polymer membrane that contains inorganic particles having a spherical shape and a particle size distribution that has a D90/D10 less than or equal to 3. A blend or a combination of spherical inorganic particles may be utilized. A nominal particle size of the spherical inorganic particles is from about 5 microns to about 20 microns. An affinity ligand may be bonded to the spherical inorganic particles and/or to the fibrillated polymer membrane. Also, the affinity chromatography devices have a hydraulic permeability from about 100 (×10−12 cm2) to about 500 (×10−12 cm2). Additionally, the affinity chromatography devices have a cycling durability of at least 100 cycles without exceeding an pressure of 0.3 MPa. Manifolds containing multiple affinity chromatography devices in a parallel configuration and multiple manifolds in a parallel configuration are also disclosed.

摘要: The present invention relates to a chromatography ligand, which comprises Domain C from Staphylococcus protein A (SpA), or a functional fragment or variant thereof. The chromatography ligand presents an advantageous capability of withstanding harsh cleaning in place (CIP) conditions, and is capable of binding Fab fragments of antibodies. The ligand may be provided with a terminal coupling group, such as arginine or cysteine, to facilitate its coupling to an insoluble carrier such as beads or a membrane. The invention also relates to a process of using the ligand in isolation of antibodies, and to a purification protocol which may include washing steps and/or regeneration with alkali.

摘要: A natural gas storage material is provided that comprises a porous metal-organic framework (MOF) material having one or more sites for reversibly storing natural gas that contains methane. In certain variations, the MOF has a usable methane storage capacity of greater than or equal to about 208 cm3(STP)/cm3 under pressure swing conditions of 80 bar adsorption to 5 bar desorption at 298 K. In other variations, suitable MOFs having one or more sites for reversibly storing methane with advantageous natural gas storage capabilities are selected from the group consisting of: UMCM-152, DUT-23-Cu, VEBHUG_SL, FUYCIN, ja074366osi20070816_031204, XIYYEL, cg500192d_si_003, VUSKAW, VUSKEA, PEVQOY, EDUSIF, and combinations thereof. Natural gas storage systems and methods of reversibly storing natural gas in such MOFs are also provided.

摘要: A method of preparing a superabsorbent polymer and the superabsorbent polymer maintaining excellent basic absorption performances such as centrifuge retention capacity, while exhibiting improved gel strength and absorption rate are provided. The nanocellulose fiber is introduced during the preparation of the superabsorbent polymer to improve mechanical strength, to form a porous structure, and to rapidly absorb the surrounding water through capillary action and delivering the water to the inside of the superabsorbent polymer.
