Abstract: The invention relates to a novel device (10) for separating composite materials, comprising a cylindrical rotor (17), which has a shaft driven by a motor and strip-shaped first impacting tools (30), which are evenly distributed over the circumference and which protrude from the rotor parallel to the shaft, and comprising a cylindrical stator (12) that surrounds the rotor, wherein an annular space (32) is formed between the rotor and the stator. An air supply channel (15) opens into the upper region of the annular space (32) and an air removal channel (38) leads away from the lower region of the annular space. Furthermore, the cylindrical wall of the stator (12) has strip-shaped second impacting tools (31), which are evenly distributed over the circumference and which protrude radially inward.

Abstract: Superhydrophobic films from plastic waste and a fabrication method thereof are provided. Superhydrophobic films with variable thickness, comprising a base and top layer, can be created using semi-crystalline polymers, including virgin, recycled, or waste forms. The fabrication process utilizes 60% of total plastic waste, resulting in films with contact angles between 120° to 160°, tensile strength ranging from 1 MPa to about 70 MPa, and thickness ranging from 20 μm to about 5 mm. Superhydrophobic films may impart protective water-repellent properties against the elements.

Abstract: A repair solution for a wind turbine blade is described. The repair solution includes the application of a layer of viscous coating material to the section of the blade to be repaired, which is cured to form a repaired surface. The layer of viscous coating material may be temporarily covered during the curing process using a film of Low Surface Energy material, to prevent defects in the repaired surface from dust, insects, etc. Additionally or alternatively, a temporary shield may be erected adjacent the curing layer of coating material, to allow for the control of the temperature and/or humidity levels of the region adjacent the curing material, to provide for more effective control of the curing process and to allow for repairs to be carried out for a wider process window.

Abstract: Superhydrophobic films can be prepared from a stream of plastic waste (i.e., derived from post-consumer and/or industrial waste) by a method comprising: dissolving first semi-crystalline polymers in a solvent to form solution1; pre-heating a solid substrate to below a boiling point of the solvent; applying solution1 onto the substrate using spin-casting to obtain a porous blended-polymer layer with fragile structure; annealing the porous blended-polymer layer to above the melting point of the first semi-crystalline polymers to strengthen the porous blended-polymer layer's internal structure by closing pores and decreasing surface roughness, thereby obtaining a strong non-porous base support layer; and dissolving second semi-crystalline polymer in a solvent to form solution2; pre-heating the non-porous base layer to a temperature below a boiling point of the solvent; applying solution2 onto the non-porous base layer to obtain a top porous layer crosslinked with the non-porous base layer; and peeling off the freestanding superhydrophobic film.

Abstract: A process for packaging a product arranged on a support comprising unrolling a film, moving the film to a packaging assembly defining at its inside a packaging chamber, progressively moving a number of supports inside the packaging chamber of the packaging assembly, closing the packaging chamber with the film sheets held above the respective support, optionally causing one or both of: a gas withdrawal from the hermetically closed packaging chamber and gas injection of a gas mixture of controlled composition, heat sealing the film to said support, wherein the heat sealing uses one or more heaters having heating surfaces which are heated for discrete and short time periods only. An apparatus for performing the above process is also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention provides a thermoplastic film comprising: a base film wherein the base film comprises a stretchable polyolefin material comprising one or more layers; and a plurality of extruded fibre elements; wherein the extruded fibre elements are located on at least one surface of the base film; wherein the extruded fibres form one or more protrusions relative to the plane of the base film; wherein at the location where the fibre elements are provided on the base film, a domain of a material mixture comprising the base film material and the fibre material is present between a domain of pure base film material and a domain of pure fibre material, and wherein the average thickness of the base film is less than the average thickness of the protrusion.
