Abstract: Compositions and methods for a semicrystalline poly(aryl ether ketone) copolymers incorporating 2-benzimidazolinone and 4,4′-biphenol as comonomer units with 4,4′-dihalobenzophenone are described herein. The copolymers have advantageous properties, particularly in terms of high glass transition temperatures (Tg), high melting temperatures (Tm), crystallinity and chemical resistance. The copolymers are suitable for manufacturing high temperature and chemical resistance molded systems and other articles of manufacture via injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, coating, and additive manufacturing.

Abstract: Pressure sensitive macromolecular adhesive polymers and compositions capable of integrating fluoropolymeric properties with a catechol-amine functionality to form an adhesive system that allows bonding between metallic substrates and fluoropolymers are disclosed. Also disclosed are core-shell polymeric particles comprised of a core and a shell comprising a thermoplastic polydopamine polymer that may be prepared as a colloidal suspension and used as a hot-melt pressure sensitive adhesive capable of binding low surface energy materials, such as polyolefins and fluoropolymers, to diverse materials including metals.

Abstract: Medical devices including a balloon and methods of making medical devices including a balloon are provided. The medical device includes a tubular element, a balloon, and a barrier between the tubular element and the balloon. When air is pushed into one end of the medical device, the balloon may be inflated. The method includes applying a barrier to a tubular element, applying an elastomer solution to the barrier and at least a part of the tubular element to form a coating, and curing the coating to form the balloon.
