Abstract: Methods and systems for treating components are described. The methods include using a system having a controller, a laser applicator, a coating applicator, and a sensor array. The laser applicator, the coating applicator, and the sensor array are arranged on a treatment arm that is controlled by the controller. The method includes scanning a surface to be treated of the component using the sensor array, cleaning the surface to be treated using the laser applicator, defining surface texture patterns, applying laser texturing, and applying a new coating to the surface to be treated using the coating applicator.

Abstract: One aspect is a method for producing a plurality of wire elements, including providing a metal wire, coating the metal wire with a first layer to obtain a first coated wire, subjecting the first coated wire to a first quality control process, marking any first defects identified in the first quality control process, coating the first coated wire with a further layer to obtain a further coated wire, and cutting the further coated wire to obtain a plurality of wire elements. Prior to cutting the further coated wire to obtain the plurality of wire elements, a first length of the first coated wire is less than 10% longer than a further length of the further coated wire.

The method is characterised in that it consists of consecutively depositing at least three vertically adjacent layers (6, 6′) which are made up, alternatively, of a first substance and a second substance, each layer (6, 6′) being made up of separate individual droplets (4, 4′; 5), arranged in each layer according to a predetermined pattern.

Abstract: An apparatus for applying an asphalt binder composition to a roadway during construction or repair of an asphalt pavement which apparatus include: a mobile vehicle having a chassis extending in a longitudinal direction which longitudinal direction is aligned with a forward/rearward direction of travel of said mobile vehicle; at least one storage tank supported on the chassis containing an asphalt binder composition; and at least one spray nozzle configured to dispense the asphalt binder composition from the at least one storage tank in a longitudinal strip or band having a width that is no greater that a width of the asphalt binder composition dispensed by one of the at least one spray nozzle. The at least one spray nozzle can include a plurality of spray nozzles that are coupled to a common spray bar. According to one embodiment the asphalt binder composition is a void reducing asphalt membrane composition that is provided between adjacent asphalt pavement passes.

Abstract: A radiation system includes a radiation device coupled to a control unit; a radiation blocker having an adaptor opening for receiving the radiation device when the radiation device is positioned on the radiation blocker; and a carrier comprising a first compartment for housing the radiation blocker and, a second compartment for housing the control unit. The adaptor opening can dimensionally fit the radiation device to block radiations from the radiation device when the radiation device is positioned in the radiation blocker. The radiation device can produce radiation having peak radiation wavelength in a range of from about 250 nm to about 450 nm and can have a peak irradiation power in a range of from about 0.5 W/cm2 to about 10 W/cm2.
